so what do you do when you hate sleep and it seems to hate you. I've found in the recent decade that sleep is just a waste of time at least for me. i have no idea what i would do if i was awake more than i am but sleeping just seems so bloody overrated. what is the best way to not kill your self but still stay awake for long periods of time and not have to sleep? i mean wakeing nightmares are bad enough but then sleeping oh yay so much fun and torment

Sleep isn't a waste of time. It keeps us sane and healthy. Our bodies repair neurons and cells while we're sleeping. It's very important work.
Personally, I don't mind being able to check out of life for 8 hours a day.

I hate that I need sleep. There's never enough time in the day. I get home from work sometimes at 9 p.m. and I should have been in bed an hour ago, but I'd like to spend time with my wife, watch some TV, and play some video games to chill out before I go to bed. Unfortunately, there's just not enough time unless I split everything into five minute increments.
If your body is strong and you can handle a little abuse, I'd suggest going the caffeine route. Energy drinks will crash you eventually, but black coffee or 5-hour-energy drinks will usually keep you going. Same with caffeine pills.
If you REALLY want to kick it up a notch, try diet pills, or even better, get some sudafed. But not the stuff you get off the shelf, you gotta go up to the pharmacist and tell him you got sinus problems and he'll give you the real sudafed. Just take it in moderation.
If you want to live past the age of 40, don't do any of what I just said.

Please don't take this the wrong way, but it might be a good idea to talk to a psychologist or somebody.

Sleep is valuable....not only does it repair cells in the body but dreaming cleans out your mind and gets rid of the clutter.
Having a sleep disorder I know how much of a difference it makes when you get uninterrupted sleep and when you don't.

I love sleep. Sleep is me time, quiet time, rest time. Being a student, I'm never "off work." I always have a project to grade, a paper to write, a journal article to read, etc. Right now, my boyfriend has been having some medical issues, so I spend a lot of time I would take for myself talking to him (we're long distance) and making sure he's okay. And then there's my crazy-ass family. So, sleep is really the only time I have for ME. And I love it. Slept for 10 hours last night.

Sleep is vital for your body. You can only go so long without it, before you start to suffer mentally. Alot of times it can be long term even.
I'd gladdy trade you. I hate being up for days. I love sleep. I'd sleep 24/7 if I could. Nothing in my life worth being awake for.

I love sleep, too. My problem is that my body insists on being awake late into the night (or, usually, early into the morning) and then sleeping late into the morning. My husband works 8-5 so he usually gets up around 6:30am and goes to bed around 11pm. I try to match that schedule as best I can, but a lot of times I'll be up at least an hour or two later than him. Or more, like right now...it's almost 2am and I'm still up. Then I'll get up with him at 6:30, but still be pretty tired, so I'll go back to sleep around 9 for a couple more hours. :p

Indeed. I do try. But, even with friends, and school, It still hard for me to want to be awake for long. Nothing against you or anyone. I just, at least in sleep, I can't be hurt, and be what I want to be and do, rather then always having that stupid wall.

I love sleep and want nothing more than one of these weeks to just take 3 days off and do nothing but sleep the entire 3 days, to make up for everything my neighbors and landlord and friends have done to me in recent times to jeopardize my sleep.

I'm quite similar to blas in this respect. When it's the weekend and I don't actually have any work to get done, sleeping from 3am until 2pm is AMAZING. There's nothing more relaxing than being passed out in bed.

I don't blame you there at all! I know you've had it rough trying to sleep in the daytime when everyone else is up and being loud. That's gotta be hard.
