Apparently, people don't want the marriage age raised cuz of the fact that they need the money from "bride price" which they get from selling their daughters into marriage with men who will rape and beat them.

This is just not right. The below link details an eight year old girl getting a divorce from her husband. The marriage was consumnated.

As far as I know, Islam does not require that you marry young. Or at least, not in the sense that we think of. Given that the legal age in Australia is 18, I know that a couple of girls around my age were entered into "arranged marriages" but would do so when they were old enough.

Also, just think of the Taliban enacting "sharia" law. Sharia is known as Islamic law.
