I hate able-bodied people who get on a descending elevator on the second or third floor.

In the amount of time it took them to wait for the elevator, they could have been on the ground floor by taking the stairs.

Instead, they make people who are travelling from the upper floors wait for the World's Slowest Elevator to stop and let them on.

Then they stand there, oblivious to the hateful stares of the other occupants.

Boozy, you'll love this one.

At the gym I go (it's actually an athletic club because of the size of the building and all the "amenities")....there is an elevator to get upstairs/downstairs to the cardio area!

An elevator...when there are only two stories.

Fail.
I once ran up 10 flights of stairs because one elevator was down and the other was absurdly crowded. It was exhausting, but actually kind of fun in retrospect.

Depends on how many floors it is. For my bio lab, I take the elevator up to the third floor. There are only three floors. I take the stairs down.

But when I'm in a dorm, and a completely able-bodied person gets on the elevator for floors 2 or 3 going up or 4, 3, or 2 going down, I get pissed.

I don't mind walking up or down stairs if the elevator is out (unless it's like 10 or 20 floors up, then it gets hard), but sometimes I use the elevator just cause it's cool. Even when it is out of my way, I love those glass elevators at malls. They typically only go up 2-3 floors, but they're so much fun!

We have that at our gym - Due to the Disability Discrimination Act new buildings have to have facilities for the disabled. We have a few members who are in wheelchairs and the lift is the only way to get to the resistance machines.

In your particular instance it's probably a good idea to have a lift to the cardio area, after all it's hard work lifting someone up/down a flight of steps on a carry chair if they've just had an MI!

I do this when I can. Not because I can't walk down a flight of stairs, and not when the elevator is busy. I just have never grown out of the simple, possibly childish, enjoyment of riding an elevator, possibly because I rarely have any reason to get into one. And it doesn't make anybody wait anyway, because the buildings I'm normally in are rarely more than 3-4 stories anyway. (If they're much taller, and again if it's not a busy time, I'll get on going the wrong way. Longer ride, and any other passengers won't stare at me for daring to use the thing to go only a floor or two. Alternately, if it *is* a busy time, and it's a height where the elevator is actually needed, getting on going the wrong way gets you a nearly-empty car on the first try, rather than repeatedly having it stop only to be full already. No, I don't press both the up and down buttons.)

Though two of my classes this quarter are in a building where I have a different reason to use the elevator to go only one story: to use the stairs, you have to go either to the other end of the building, or outside, down, around, and back in another door.

I think it's reasonable to take the elevator when you're going up three flights. Three flights is a mini-workout, and sometimes even the healthiest among us don't have the energy. I know I don't after a long day.

I'm mostly annoyed when it's a descending elevator and they're only going down one or two flights.

When I was in high school I would jump off high walls. Now my knees bother me if I walk up and down stairs. I then go home and power walk which doesn't impact my knees as much.

After the Lakers vs Timberwolves game I went to, to get to my car I went up 3 flights of stairs (that's the furthest they'd go) and then took the elevator to the 7th floor. That being said, with my ankle as jacked up as it is, I have a much easier time going up the stairs than I do down.

Kinda sad, but even with my bad hip, it still faster to go up/down five flights of stairs for my classes.

That being said, I did step wrong today and was in tears. So. Much. Pain.

I am glad that this term has all my classes on same floor. It's still the fourth floor, but oh well. Those elevators or insanely slow and about 100 years old. (I mean it. They look like their made of wood, and have like thick pug buttons that have caps!), but also packed to the gils with students despite their being4 elevators.

On the same book, I get really annoyed by people who get on the bus, and get off the next stop. They don't have any heavy bags, or any bags, perfectly ablebodied, yet.. slow's us down so he didn't have to walk the four minute walk. GAH.

This is a total aside, but does anyone else in here get that little rush feeling when you get to be the only one riding your elevator car?

Sometimes going down stairs hurts more than going upstairs. I have a knee that likes to give out or threaten to and just be in pain for no good reason every so often, and going down stairs hurts a lot :(

I certainly do. From all those years having to assist my father on errands, it's kinda nice to be actually alone for a few seconds. I try to take the opportunity to listen to death metal really loud on my PSP's speakers, but dry office people get really irritated when I do that for some reason

I'm ridiculously out of shape, so I try to take as many opportunities to exercise as I can. But for whatever reasons all the places I need to be are on fifth and tenth floors *shrug*

I'm guilty! I work in a building with 26 floors and I work on the 16th, so usually taking the elevator is a no-brainer.

But even if I'm only going down a couple floors, I take the elevator because I'm usually wearing uncomfortable shoes and have a fear of tripping and falling down the steep steps. :( Not to mention my feet are sore a lot from my dressy work shoes. I get completely embarrassed if anyone sees me going down just one floor, though. :o

I am able bodied and will usually take the elevator, I have big feet and even bigger shoes, I'm sorry I don't want to break my neck on the tiny-ass steps that people who make buildings use these days, don't even get me started on the lips on the stairs.
