I did not want to hijack the inappropreiate school attire thread

apparently in the UK there was (note was) a store that sold fully padded bikini tops/bras/halter tops FOR 7 YEAR OLDS

Let me repeat that: Padded bikini tops for 7 year olds

here is the link to the article
http://www.stylelist.com/2010/04/14/padded-bikinis-seven-year-old-girls-primark/?icid=main|hp-desktop|dl3|link4|http%3A%2F%2Fwww.stylelist.com%2 F2010%2F04%2F14%2Fpadded-bikinis-seven-year-old-girls-primark%2F

I just do not get it, but then given some of the clothing items that are for sale for the under 10 crowd these days it should not surprise me in the least.

I can see it now, the parents who bought those for their child will yell at anyone (and most likely accuse them of being a pedophile) if they look at them.

WTF?

Wasn't it the UK that banned ads with flat chested women to fight child porn or something like that?

Regardless of where it happened, that law remains a stupid idea.

The problem isn't men chasing after beautiful grown women it's pervs chasing after children. When did we wander away from this?

I'm sure that top would have been quite popular in the prostitot pageant scene.

I haven't read the link - but the product has been pulled and any profits are being donated to 'A Childrens Charity'.

Damn thing should never have been made in the first place.

I can kinda understand the appeal. When I was that age I wanted to look older, but to actually make the product is weird.

The line in the article about pedos seems a bit out of touch. don't pedos like girls who aren't busty?

I can understand for the adults or possibly teens, but for 7 year olds?!!! WTF. If I had a child, no way she would be allowed to wear anything like that!

This is just so wrong on so many levels, but sadly it's not an isolated incident.

Stripper poles for children (http://www.feministing.com/archives/005946.html)

G-strings and padded bras for children (http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-109621/Outrage-Argos-sells-G-strings-children.html)

I've also seen girls as young as five years old wearing clothes that you'd expect to see on a King's Cross hooker; boob tubes, high heels (higher than two inches), micro minis, fishnets. To my mind tho the problem is not so much with the manufacturers, but with the parents who buy these hooker clothes for their daughters. If no-one ever bought the clothes, then the manufacturers would not sell them.

To an extent I don't see the problem with the thongs, pretty much every woman I know who wears them wear them because they find them more comfortable, not because they're intending anyone to see them, I have a fair few problems with the article about them however.
