Basically, soda and sports drinks are no longer allowed on city property thanks to this new bill. I think it's ridiculous, another case of government trying to have their say in stuff they have no business in. Sure, it's only city property (schools and such), but it's still unnecessary regulation.

Meh. I thought that it was already illegal to have soda in school vending machines. Didn't that pass a few years ago recently? At least in elementary schools?

Me, I love me soda. I drink it 24/7 if I could. I love all sodas. Cola's, Fruits, LemonsLimes, Root Beers. *le sigh*

Basically, soda and sports drinks are no longer allowed on city property thanks to this new bill. They did no such thing. They banned them from VENDING MACHINES on city property. Had they banned the drinks themselves, as your post says, you couldn't bring your own... or, logically, even carry them home from the store.

They did no such thing. They banned them from VENDING MACHINES on city property.

And assuming they own the vending machines, then I would say that it is well within their rights. In this case they are a business selling a product, and businesses can sell however they see fit.

They still sell soda in vending machines at high schools here.

Who cares if you can't get a soda? It's bad for you anyway. I still love the stuff, but it's only a treat for me. So many calories and sugars that your body doesn't even need, and it doesn't even hydrate you.

You can still buy it in stores, drink it at home.

Okay, looks like I was mistaken. It was just for vending machines. Still kind of silly, but not nearly as ridiculous as it was made out to be.
