What a bitch. As for everyone who thinks, "Oh, it was just a cat," well, a lot of people who commit cruelty towards children or who commit serial murder start off with cruelty to animals. She should be made to do penance at the Cats Protection League.

Whiskey Tango Foxtrot is right!
What was going through her head? She seems to be related to my PILs. They have offered on a regular basis to help Mr. Rum get rid of his 2 pests (FTR, we have 2 cats). They hate the fact we have cats.
Why hasn't she been arrested? Isn't this an incident of animal cruelty?
Was the cat even rescued?

Cat was found after being left in bin for 15 hours.
They know who she is. Police and Animal Cruety division are tracking her.

Makes me absolutely sick. Did it ever say why the woman did this? It wasn't even her cat. And she's under police protection because people are after her? Man, if I made the rules (good thing I don't, I know) she'd get no protection of any sort.

It's to stop people from killing her. There would be people that do that.

When I read the headline, I figured it was surveillance footage of some woman the drove up to a dumpster and tossed the cat in. Not one that walked up to a neighborhood cat, petted it, and then tossed it in the trash can.
I stand by my sig...

Thanks Plaid for the news link.
It's still disgusting.
I re-watched the video, hoping it wasn't that bad. But it was. I love my kitties and if someone ever did that to them, then I'd be out looking for them to put them in a wheelie bin too and keep them in there for 15 hours. (They'd be unharmed other than sitting in a wheelie bin for 15 hours).
*le sigh*
And my family wonders why I don't like people as a whole.

I'm just glad that the 15 hours didn't happen to include the bin being emptied; that could easily have been a bad end for the poor kitty, and no amount of "but it's just a cat" from the idiot who did it would save her.

My PILs (especially my FIL) think cats are useless and shouldn't be allowed to be pets at all. Real people have dogs. FTR, they have 2 dogs both are lab mixes.

Dogs? Bah. Real MEN have bears. Untrained bears. If the bears get out of line they put them in their place by wrestling them into submission. Then they make the bear chop wood as punishment.

I have a wolf who worships the ground I walk on.
As for the topic - I guess there was a story where she proclaims to be a cat lover and did it as a joke.
I thought a joke was supposed to be funny?

I'm comforted by the thought that in a few days everybody will know who she is and then...
She will probably regret it.

While I don't condone at all what she did, I do think that the people who are sending her death threats need to get a clue. Leave it to the police and the RSPCA; harrassing this woman just makes them as bad as she is.

The death threats completely uncalled for. But public outcry is a good thing. Dumping cats (or dogs, babies, etc) should not be acceptable in any community.

Death threats are too far.
I do belive that she herself should be locked in a tiny cell, no bigger then like four feet wide-long. It'll be like thirty feet tall though. No windows. No doors. Maybe make it very hot in there on top of it.
No water. No food. No bathroom.
For 15 hours like she did to that cat. See how she likes it.
She'll never do that again.

She'll probably not do it again after what happens to her now. If she isn't very lucky she will be fired from her job. Can you imagine how many calls that bank is getting? Plus, even with protection, how fun is it to be threatened?
I think the uproar is to the good, it will cause others to reconcider, at least when they are on camera .

Ah, but she didn't realise that she was on camera. I doubt she would have done it if she was; she only seems upset about it cuz she got caught. The uproar is a good thing; this woman did an awful thing and even if she isn't prosecuted, she's being punished for her crime.

Woman walks on street. A cat goes near here all happy and purring.
Woman pets cat for a bit, who just loves it.
Woman looks around for a bit, then picks cat up while opening a garbage bin. Throws cat in, quickly shuts lid, and walks off.

I wonder how that woman would like being thrown into a dumpster for a few hours?
I saw that news report a few days ago on one of my local stations. We both exploded as soon as we saw that. I'm glad the cat survived, but seriously, what the fuck possesses somebody to do something like that?!

Cat was also stuck in the bin for fifteen hours and could have died if her owners hadn't found her.

It can't be that bad of a punishment to dump a stupid bitch into a garbage can and leave her in there for 15 hours just to prove a point.
I'm all for it. I mean, I'd rather they put her against a Gladiator, but I'd settle for that.

Tiger Cub Hidden In Suitcase With Stuffed Toy (http://uk.news.yahoo.com/5/20100827/twl-tiger-cub-hidden-in-suitcase-with-st-3fd0ae9.html)
A Thai woman has been detained by airport authorities in Bangkok after they found a drugged tiger cub stashed alongside a stuffed toy in her luggage.
...
The woman, identified as Piyawan Palasarn, was charged with wildlife smuggling. If found guilty, she faces up to four years in prison and a 40,000 baht (£824) fine.
But if I was in the town where the bin woman lived and had my account with RBS, I would boycot that branch or take my money elsewhere

I'm confused as to why you would boycott a whole bank branch just because the woman works there? Generally speaking, the actions of one person do not represent the company as a whole. I agree that what she did was despicable and cruel, but I don't really see what it has to do with her job.

What I'm wondering is why the hell did she do this in the first place? The cat wasn't hurting her, she was petting the cat, then just picks it up and dumps it in a trash bin? WTF was she thinking?!
Why do people do things like this?

Because whatever punishment they recive is so light, that it's worth it to them just to do it.

well according to This Sun Article (http://tinyurl.com/34bnyq2)
MOGGIE mauler Mary Bale yesterday admitted dumping a family's pet puss in a wheelie bin - but insisted: "I don't know what the fuss is about, it's just a cat."
The grey-haired spinster faces a possible RSPCA prosecution after shock CCTV footage showed her scooping up four-year-old tabby Lola "as a joke".
That is NOT a joke - that is an act of animal cruelty and it's twisted and despicable that this woman thinks it was a laugh. I can't stand the people who do such cruel things to poor innocent creatures and say "well, it was just a/n <insert animal here>" I think the best punishment for people like that is to treat them in the same manner they treated their victim. You put a cat in a wheelie bin for 15 hours, same fate for you. You drag a dog behind your truck - looks like you are going to be towed up and down the road for a while... These people are sick.

Jeebuz H... I think dripping water on a cat to annoy it or sticking a bit of tape to its paw is a mean joke (funny, but mean). This is just abosolutely indefensible.

I'm confused as to why you would boycott a whole bank branch just because the woman works there?
Im unfamiliar with the branch in question, but some might only have 2 windows open at a time and if she is the only open window, I would let someone else go by till the other one is clear.
Generally speaking, the actions of one person do not represent the company as a whole.
Living far away (and pretending I had an account with them) I would still keep my account as I wouldnt have to physically see her, but I would go out of my way to NOT go to that branch even if it was the closest to me, both my bank and building society closed down branches that were walking distance to me and for a time only one bank branch was active that I knew the location of, with only one branch to hand, I would go out of town or else where.
I agree that what she did was despicable and cruel, but I don't really see what it has to do with her job.
people have been sacked just for unfounded allegations on their character, which is unjust and she could take them to tribunal if they did so to her, regardless of the amounts of baying for blood, they would still be in the wrong.

Many companies have a code of conduct that they expect you to follow as what you do reflects on the company, also, if someone is so uncaring about a living creature that is a cherished possesion and member of someones family, why should she care about something like their money?

Sorry, I just can't see what all the fuss is about.
Yeah, she's a bitch. She abused the cat. It could have died.
She was caught on CCTV and identified, and is now getting threats.
I just don't get the outrage.
Go turn on the racing channel on the TV. Watch at a dozen short-arsed, silk-wearing bastards abuse an animal for the entertainment of others. Horses get whipped not to correct bad behaviour, but because they aren't running as fast as their riders want. And the crowd roars with delight. All caught on camera. And not a single one of them is any more bothered by their actions than this woman was with her's.
To those who threaten this idiot woman but can't be arsed to protest real animal abuse, fuck you. Fuck you very much.

In this day and age, it is not safe to assume that you* are not under surveillance from somewhere. Cameras are everywhere: security cameras, handhelds, phone cameras, etc. So it is really in your* best interests to not be an asshole.
*generic "you", not directed at anyone in particular.

We can only hope so. Some people are so screwed up in the head that they think they're just being picked on when they're being punished for their crimes, so they commit more (and worse) crimes. I suspect she might be one of those. I wouldn't be surprised if she's been abusing animals her entire life and this is the first time she's been caught. :(
