View Full Version : Men Can't Interact With Kids

So, I see threads like this (http://www.dslreports.com/forum/r21344096-), and this one (http://www.customerssuck.com/board/showthread.php?t=21170), and I wind up thinking: Never ever interact with child under any circumstances, including any potential circumstances where the child might be hurt or worse.

Why? Because I don't want to find myself dealing with the consequences of a false charge of some form of child abuse.

Look at what happen to me: Lose my job, have my friends and family abandon me (http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/woman/real_life/article991814.ece), some have even killed themselves (http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/crime/no-evidence-against-man-in-child-porn-inquiry-who-killed-himself-509120.html), rather than face the consequences of a false accusation.

And what do I get by employing a rule of "ignore children"? The worst I get is people who say "That's not fair. The children don't deserve that kind of treatment," plus I get their ire. Exceedingly few people will actually abandon me, there's no legal consequences, and I get to stay with friends and family.

Okay, I suppose there could be legal consequences. After all, if a kid does get hurt, and I could have prevented it, and that comes out that I could have prevented it, I could wind up suffering for that, legally. But the risk of that is significantly rarer than the risk of some random person accusing me of assaulting their child.

I'll take the safe route. Sorry, kids, but until society stops treating an accusation as guilt, until society demands proof that accusations are more than mere words, I have to do so.

The distressing part about it all is that I'm not (http://online.wsj.com/public/article/SB118903209653018615.html) the only one (http://www.google.com/search?q=men+avoiding+kids).

How bout these apples? My little cousin (6 years old) had to go to the bathroom after his football game. I took him since my aunt had to watch my 2 year old cousin. I'm chilling right outside the bathroom while my little cousin does his thing. Then I hear him call for me. I walk inside and he says he needs help doing his belt. Fair enough, those belts are kinda confusing for young kids. But the sad part was, I was still kinda hesitant about it. I mean, what if I'm doing his belt and someone opens the door to go to the bathroom and people outside me grabbing at a little kids belt? I did it anyway, cause he IS my little cousin and I'm not going to have him walk around without his belt done, but still. I shouldn't have to worry about that crap. I'm freaking 20 years old. If some asshole/moron/idiot/etc. got me in trouble, I'd drop out of college. I wouldn't waste any more of my time. No way I'm going to get a job working for the FBI if I'm labeled a sex offender. And, no offense to anyone here, but I'm not cut out to stick to retail for the rest of my life. If I'm not doing something with science, I'm wasting my time. It's what I'm meant for in life.

Yeah, I know what you guys are saying... fortunately, not from personal experience (although, I'm sort of an uncle... best mates got young kids.)

I recall the story of the guy on the plane who wasn't allowed to sit next to,IIRC, his own son on his own. He was 'asked' (ie - demanded) to move seats.

It is very sad. I have a co-worker, 18 years old, gay, who has always wanted to be an elementary school teacher. Unfortunately, he is too afraid too go into the field. It's a big loss to many children because he'd be a fantastic teacher; he's great with young children. It's very sad for him, he can't realize his dream. he has no idea what else he wants to do.
