  • Skateboard vs. Bicycle

I am 35 and trying to get back into shape. I was never in as great a shape as when I was riding my board or my bike everywhere in the neighborhood. Because those things were fun. Walking isn't fun. (It's too functional to be fun)

So I am looking to others to help me debate the pros and cons of Skateboard vs Bicycle.

So far pros for Skateboard are

Can be carried easily in areas where can't be ridden

Easy storage and easy to take up stairs in any apartment over first story

    For bicycle

Tires more easily designed for rougher terrain so roads that haven't been paved in awhile aren't as much of a hindrance

Less judgement as it's not seen strictly as a "kid thing"

So what do you all have let me have it!

bike's probably better, for a simple reason- you have more control over braking with a bike. yeah, you can brake on a skateboard, but only really to stop the thing. On a bike, you can use the brake to slow down without stopping. That, and you have more control over where the bike goes ( unless you are something of an expert, you can't really steer a skateboard much)

A bike's generally safer; minor bumps will bother you more now than they did then, and more still as you get older.

I would think you'd get a lot more proper exercise out of a bike than a skateboard as well as much much more practical use. If equipment size is an issue there's also roller blading.

But yeah, its hard to justify carrying a skateboard around over 30 unless you're Tony Hawk. >.>
