  • Apparently, labor laws don't apply to Mickey D's

Dear Gord it's been a long time since I've been out this way

    Anyhoo, the video explains itself:

"Judge not, lest ye get shot in your bed while your sleep." - Liz, The Dreadful
"If you villainize people who contest your points, you will eventually find yourself surrounded by enemies that you made." - Philip DeFranco

So much I disagree with there. They try to present this as if it's a normal news program just giving us the facts and letting us make up our minds instead it's run as an oped piece disguised as factual reporting.

What they aren't making clear is that it's the Franchises that are abusing the labor laws, it's the franchises that are retaliating against workers. The case they are referring to is an attempt to force McDonald's Corporate to be held accountable when Franchises do this.

The Franchises themselves are already accountable for these labor law violations. Anyone being violated against absolutely should take it to their local labor board and build a case.

The situation here is the judge decided that McDonald's corporate can not be legally held liable for the actions of the franchisees.

To be honest this isn't an unprecedented ruling.

If you run a car rental agency and you rent out a car to someone that uses it to commit a crime you will not be held liable for that crime.

It would be nice to have McDonald's taking a more direct action against misbehaving franchise owners but attempting to penalize them for the actions of said owners is a delicate thing.
