Quite possible, yes. Unfortunately, the only way to judge the merit of complaints is by having a human being look at the subject of the complaint. And since that costs money, companies will very probably sort the complaints by volume and let their employees sort through the posts in a descending order of the number of complaints they receive. Because that simply gives them the greatest effect for the money spent.

Yes, that makes the system vulnerable to abuse; and that's the reason why I've been advocating against too vague or too broad definitions of hate speech. Because any rule we impose that limits what our opponents can say online, could also be turned around and used to limit what we can say online. If it's not okay to make jokes about women, then it's not okay to make jokes about men. If you're not allowed to post racist insults against black people, then you're not allowed to post racist insults against white people, and so on.

    A quote from the article:

"As a comedian, she often uses Facebook to promote her performances by showing her irreverent, misandrist brand of wit. Would this mean she could no longer make jokes?"

Would she support other comedians using Facebook to show a misogynist "brand of wit"? Or would she call that hate speech?
"You are who you are on your worst day, Durkon. Anything less is a comforting lie you tell yourself to numb the pain." - Evil
"You're trying to be Lawful Good. People forget how crucial it is to keep trying, even if they screw it up now and then." - Good

      The hell??

No Daily Dot, people threatening to hurt or rape people are committing assault. What these ''comedians" are doing may be line pushing, but frankly pretending it isn't hate speech is silly. It's just not hate speech that causes most men consequences in 2017.

I think the point of the article was claiming that misogny (bias agianst women) was being tolerated, while misandry (bias against men) wasn't. That is, if true, an issue. (and frankly, it's also an issue if harassment- which is more severe- isn't punished at least as badly as hate speech, which can, in some circumsatnces, be part of harassment)
