Oh, yeah, this one has been going on for a long time. But I know everyone likes one or the other probably not both. Now I prefer Coke over Pepsi anyday even through I don't drink a lot of soda. Of course, my favorite even isn't one of them (it's Dr. Pepper) but still they are the two biggest soda companies in the world.

I stopped drinking pop and started drinking water. Now when I do have some, I find it to be too cloying.
Weird, because I've been drinking pop my entire life. I guess when I did drink it, I preferred coke between the two, but Dr. Pepper was my poison.

I try to only drink only diet soda, and my choice is usually Diet Pepsi. I think it's the best-tasting diet.
But when I treat myself to a regular soda, nothing beats a Coke! :D

I prefer Pepsi, out of the two. But I tend to be drinking more water, milk and tea now-a-days. Nothing beats a ice cold glass of milk or water.

Dr. Pepper and Coke Zero. They are my drugs that keep me awake and coherent. (I am quitting this summer, though, I've got to get off of caffeine for a while).

Coke. No diet anything. I limit myself (or try) to one bottle a day, drinking tea, water or juice the rest of the time. But when it's soda time, it's Coke.

I'm addicted to caffeine so I usually get Diet Pepsi or Diet Mt Dew. I will on occasionally drink Diet Coke but it tastes too acidic for me.

I'm going to say, coke and Pepsi taste the same to me. I don't like either one. Dr.Pepper I do like though, but I have to avoid it now because I have to watch my caffiene, stupid migraines have taken away my coffee and my Dr.Pepper! I do mourn my coffee more than the pop though. ( At least I can get decaf)

May I be the one to take the monkey wrench, and lick the grease and oil off it in preference over either coke or pepsi??
Water, juice, tea, coffee... some other soft drinks... but not those 2.
With apologies to Berke Breathed, I must say that both Coke and Pepsi taste like malted battery acid. My soda of choice is Mountain Dew.

So you prefer the Alien-esque molecular acid of the Dew to the mild battery acid eh?
There is nothing but Diet Pepsi for me. I used to prefer Coke, but when I came back from a medical required diet, I found that diet coke tastes horrifically bitter.
Acid? Of the 3, Pepsi is the most acidic, with Coke right behind. Mountain Dew is mild by comparison.

Coke? Pepsi? Bleh! Give me a Dr. Pepper!
Coke I can tolerate, but Pepsi is just to....acidic. Dr. Pepper, A & W, Sprite, 7up....that's my top 4.

i like vanilla pepsi best because they're one of the few brands that actually uses real vanilla.
(coke uses only fake)
I didn't even know it until one day... I made myself a vanilla sprite using sprite and vanilla syrup. i noticed the after taste from the vanilla.
a short time later i was drinking a vanilla pepsi... took a sip and noticed it had the same aftertaste. "What? Are they using real vanilla?"... I checked the label and sure enough "real and artificial" were both being used.
right now tho im being cheap and drinking wegmans

"Interesting" tidbit: my grandmother could never taste or smell real vanilla only the fake kind.

I don't really drink much of any soda anymore and certainly less and less as I get older. I actually like them both but for different reasons. If I'm looking to mix something with alcohol then it needs to be Coke (Pepsi just tastes weird when mixed with alcohol to me), but if I'm just drinking soda then I prefer Pepsi because it seems sweeter to me. I also used to prefer Wild Cherry Pepsi.

I'm more of a Clamoto guy myself.:eek::eek:
I don't care for colas I prefer Mello Yello and Sprite. I won't turn down Orange Crush or S&W Root beer (I prefer it freshly mixed from a A&W soda shop.) IBC also makes a good root beer but I've never been able to find it on tap.

I'm a Coke guy. Usually Diet Coke. Seeings how I drink about 5 of them a day. Not good, I know, but they're cheap and portable. And they mix well with alcohol, so I don't have to buy different sodas.
Nothing beats an A&W root beer float though! Hmmmm!
I also like Fresca - when I can find it. Oddly enough, also a Coke Product.

Neither. Diet Rite for me, on the rare rare rare occassions I actually do drink a soda. I don't like aspertame, it gives me a headache. Diet Rite is sweetened with splenda, and naturally caffeine free, which worked for me all that time I couldn't have it. Now that I can, though, Mayhaps, I should start hunting for a new diet soda to enjoy? Hmmm...

Coke here too. However, the Dew helps keep the pain from sinus headaches and migraines to a minimum :)
Chalk me up for Pepsi. I don't know why, but to me, Coke just tastes too damned sweet.

+1 coke for the win!
I probably drink too much, but I've been working on that. Pepsi is almost always on sale around here, but it always made my throat burn
When we were kids, my littlest sister couldn't even drink Pepsi. She was allergic to citric acid. Coke uses phosphoric acid instead, so that's what we drank. Maybe I just got sick of coke when I grew up.

I think they taste the same. :p and I don't particularly like either one.
I'm trying not to to drink as much pop though, it's hard especially since I like iced tea :( . I also have to avoid caffeine, so I have to avoid Dr. Pepper too, which is my favorite pop (if they sold caffeine free, aspartame free, sugar free Dr.Pepper, I'd be in business haha)

Regardless of the Soda I have a lot of respect for the companies though.
They play fair in their competition with one another.

Fair, no. Despite what the article says, it was not about fair or professional courtesy, it never has been.
If Pepsi had accepted the offer, they would have been in the possession of known stolen information, which given how current IP laws are, equates to a federal crime worse than armed robbery. Not only would it have resulted in a considerable numbers of arrests of upper management and executives, it would also have caused the stock to plummet, effectively ruining the company.
So yeah, no goodwill there, just a massive CYA going on.
Not to mention that if Pepsi had used the information, then what would stop Coke from doing the same thing to them?

Both. Coke Zero preferable if they got it, but Diet Pepsi if they don't. They taste different and I prefer Coke Zero more, but both are sufficiently pleasant.
Still, Coke has the sweet sweet cocaine in it. Mhmmm....cocaine flavour.

It all depends on where you live. In Canada, it's illegal to add caffeine to any sodas except cola, so Dr. Pepper and Mountain Dew are caffeine-free (the caffeineated version, "Mountain Dew Fuel", is sold as an energy drink to get around that). In the U.S., Mountain Dew has the second-highest caffeine content of any soda (after Jolt Cola).
My favourite was Jolt (advertising slogan "All the sugar, twice the caffeine"). Unfortunately, energy drinks pretty much killed it off.

I read in the paper a few days ago that they might be changing the laws to allow caffeine in sodas other than cola. Can't really see the logic in it though.

very true. The regulation actually is for "non-cola coloured soft drinks". As such, root beer, Dr, pepper, and various other "mahogany coloured" drinks can have caffeine at their discretion.

My choice is....it depends on my mood. Sometimes, I want Crush Cherry.
What I really like but is a big pain in the butt and expensive for me to get....Irn Bru.
I'm going to say, coke and Pepsi taste the same to me.
To me, they taste completely different.
My soda of choice is Mountain Dew.
Oh, jeez, that stuff is waaaaay too sweet for me. When my ex-boyfriend was in the police academy, I swear they were mainlining that stuff, though, for the sugar and caffeine.
I prefer coke (especially cherry and vanilla...if they did a combo oh would I be in hog heaven!). :D I like Cherry Dr.Pepper, Sprite and Sierra Mist.
I loved the Coke with lime. Funny thing is, all I've ever been able to find here is the diet version, and I refuse to drink diet anything. The only place I ever came across the regular version was in Scotland?!

I hadn't thought about it, but you're right about Coke as a mixer. Pepsi don't work. But to me it doesn't taste as sweet.

I'm the same way. I prefer regular Coke, but Diet Pepsi (but I don't normally drink diet soda at all). For a while I was drinking Diet Coke from the soda fountain at work, but I discovered that the artificial sweetener doesn't agree with my stomach. Lately I've been drinking Coke at work, but I keep it to one a day, and I fill the cup most of the way with ice first; when I'm done I refill with water.
I prefer coke (especially cherry and vanilla...if they did a combo oh would I be in hog heaven!). :D I like Cherry Dr.Pepper, Sprite and Sierra Mist.
Does Dr. Pepper still make cherry vanilla? It might have just been diet. That wasn't too bad but I don't really buy soda anymore so I don't know if it's still around. I normally keep a liter of Coke in my fridge for when I have a bad headache (which mercifully I haven't had recently) but other than that I don't buy much soda; I only buy it in single servings when I'm craving it.
Diet Coke has horrible, vile saccharine. Diet Pepsi has tolerable aspertame.

on another pop related note, I was down in Bellingham WA, today and I go thirsty while I was shopping, went to grab something to drink out of a cooler in Target, and they only had coke and Barq's rootbeer. I was just about to pick the root beer and go, and randomly decided to check the ingredients. Barq's root beer is caffeinated. :( Since when is root beer caffinated! Ended up drinking semi-cold gatorate.
Is it common practice in the US to caffeinate root beer? or is it just Barq's? Just for future knowledge, I can't have caffeine.

Most root beer is not caffeinated. Barq's adds it.
Once came across this site (http://rootbeerbarrel.com/brands/) that has root beer reviews; it includes whether it has caffeine.

yay, I'll just have to watch out for Barq's then. I think that the US caffeinates their drinks more or something, because I had half a can of Pepsi, which I can do with canadian pepsi every so often, and I got a nearly instant migraine and was extremely jittery.
Oh caffeine how I miss you! I think I may be the only student at my school who doesn't constantly have a coffee or an energy drink in their hand.

I'm still looking for a diet soda that isn't sweetened with aspertame and doesn't taste like ass.
Coke Zero is ok, but I've been a Pepsi fan most of my life, before I went off cola. Now I need something for a little zip in my day. I'm dragging, hardcore.

I think that some Safeway brand pops are sweetened with Splenda, if you have a Safeway that is. but you could always check out store brand items. sometimes they have things made with splenda.
SOBE does some low cal drinks made with stevia, they're pretty yummy. Oh and Vitamin water zero is made with Stevia too I think. Not pop, but still tastyness. :P I believe Nestea zero is made with Splenda as well, if you like iced tea that is.
