Don't fear the reaper ripoff

Shot in the dark here, but I recently heard a song that sounded very, very similar to don't fear the reaper. Even down to the "Lalala's" but it was something else like "Dah dah dah" or something...anyone know what I'm talking about?

HIM has a version of "Don't Fear the Reaper", not sure who the girl in the song is, though.

I love that version better than the original. Ville Valo has such a sexy, low, comforting singing voice.

No idea if this is a rip off of the melody or not as I don't recal hearing anything like reaper recently (mind you works choice in radio probably never will), but alot of songs end up using riffs of others, it get's to a point where your father can tell you it's really this song by that guy with new lyrics, my dad noticed alot of lazy writers during the 90's.

Then you have the remix/covers genre that had a mini boom in the mid 00's, what used to be the Bside now has the remixer given top billing and the artist if ever credited normaly listed as VS.

I was asked to listen to this one song once that was in polish as the guy thought it sounded familiar, it was a cover of perfectly numb by pink floyd but sung in polish, very similar arangement unlike the scissor sisters version that he knew, so at first he didn't belive me. Methinks he had never heard of floyd at the time.
