Feel bad for those not involved, but I hope Murdoch gets what's coming to him.

Also, this is a blip in the gigantic empire that is NewsCorp.

Honestly, I find this not at all surprising in the least, and echo what ArenaBoy said.

Maybe a blip, but The ripples are being felt. There's calls for an international investigation into the entire NewsCorp Media conglomerate and speculations that a buyout by Murdoch that was occurring in Britain will be stalled because of it.

I think we have a new example of Chaos Theory here.:p

This morning they were talking to someone from the Guardian on NPR and they saw it coming. I believe they were investigating the allegations a couple years ago and were told by people in power to back off.

It's easy after the event to say that you saw it coming, tho.

Oh yeah, and the scandal's gone global now; Murdoch is now being investigated in America and Australia, too.

Check out the picture of him; he looks hacked off. http://forum.socionix.com/public/style_emoticons/default/rimshot.gif

Oh, nice. Last I heard they were just investigating junior. Nice to see that dad is getting a taste of the action.

Hopefully that Rebecca character will be investigated properly as well. I've heard a lot of stuff about her since long before this started, and none of it good. I don't know how substantiated any of it is, but the stuff I heard was pretty consistent.

The whole paper going staff writers out of a job or moved to another rag, bit OTT.

I read someone was trying to 'save' the paper by buying the name, part of the deal had better be that they don't get sued over anything done under the ownership of news international

Seeing as she's been nicked I would imagine that she is :)

Last I heard, the proper authorities on both sides of the pond were looking at everybody involved, particularly those who were pulled away and installed in other positions.

And the one who started this was found dead. (http://www.news24.com/World/News/UK-hacking-whistleblowers-death-probed-20110719)

Thought he police consider the death non-suspicious, the timing (he was found dead the day before he was to testify) does seem way too suspicious to be a coincidence.

This is almost enough to make me want to turn on Fox News to see how they are covering Beloved Leader's difficulties.

Almost.

Fox News is likely painting a picture of a benevolent ruler completely unaware of what his subjects were doing with their fiefdoms. They fought hard to be able to say anything they wanted without regard for whether it's actually true or not, and they're determined to make the most of that.

They're mostly complaining about other people covering the story, and doing very little to cover it themselves.
