I hate guns well unless it helps the plot.

Okay so the Doctor hates guns no problem each incarnation is different.

In an episode the newest incarnation of the Doctor uses a gun not to shoot anyone but to break an inanimate object.

The very next episode he refuses to use gun powder to blow up an inanimate object stating, "I hate guns"

Uhm brain go pop. So he hates guns unless you need a Deus Ex Machna?

Nicholas Cage has been in a ton of violent movies where his characters use guns. A few years ago, they did some action figures for Windtalkers and his contract stated that his character couldn't come with a gun. Well, the action figure ended up including a pack that you could get if you bought the figure....

It makes sense if that particular character didn't use a gun. They do tend to put guns in every soldier's hand even if he was the cook.

My issue was more an in-universe continuity issue.
