Actually, the singer was Thurl Ravenscroft (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thurl_Ravenscroft), also the voice of Tony the Tiger.

However, he also died, but only six years ago.

The cover singer is really, really close, but you can tell the difference if you know the original well. Ravenscroft's voice was a bit deeper than this guy's.

Very, very funny. Thurl Ravenscroft is inimitable, but it's nonetheless well-parodied and funny.
