Nebraska State Senator cannot sue God, Judge rules (http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20081016/ap_on_fe_st/suing_god)

Apparently God has been issuing threats against State Senator Ernie Chambers and his constituents. So he thought to sue God.

Since God has no address, per se, he wasn't properly notified of the lawsuit therefore, the suit is invalid.

State Senator Chambers says that since God knows everything, he knows about the lawsuit. He has 30 days to mull over appealing the ruling.

Also, when the State Senate is in operations, he doesn't participate in morning prayers & criticizes Christians. There are term limits for the State Senate and State Senator Chambers has had 38 years in this position and is not eligible for re-election.

Well, at least our state officials are trying to do something worthwhile and get to the real root of our problems, instead of wasting our time and money on frivilous attempts to pin blame on a scapegoat.

Wait...

Regardless of the merits of suing a non-exitant entity, I'm very offended by the judges reason for dismissal.
No part of the government is to go on record making religious declarations, especially as a matter of law.

Chambers, who has served a record 38 years in the Nebraska Legislature, is not returning next year because of term limits. He skips morning prayers during the legislative session and often criticizes Christians.

Oh noez!!11! He's evil!!

I know! He's teh ebil! Teh ebil I say! :p

Ahem ... I don't criticize Christians (being a lapsed one myself) but I don't go to morning mass ... What does that make me?

Ah! But have you been good????

But, back to the main point... let's just assume that he's correct, and God did know of the suit (fair enough...). By the same definitions of God, He was also responsible for the actions that the suit refers to (fair enough again).

But, by those same presumptions, God created us humans, and thus has every right to do what he damn well pleases with us. He is also outside the boundaries of the law, so any rulings a human makes must be irrelevant.

Besides, given the way the law changes, and that God is eternal, and laws can be made to be retrospective... at what point would in time would you like God to submit to such a ruling??? He will know when new laws come into place... makes it a bit hard to defend against...:p

I think I found God's address. Apparently it's 888 Doremus Ave, Newark, NJ 07114-3026 (http://www.manta.com/coms2/dnbcompany_hcq46b).
