Being English and stereotypically hating the french and the throne having a revolving door installed at one point (Vikings were stag do's) I say the Normans hated the French as much as we did and got the F away from them, I used to joke about this a bit at work "Look mate, you come over, we'll have a 'war' and we'll point our king out with an arrow OK."

I see the word Norman not French, don't know/care how French they were, hell we could have lost the Napolean wars and be occupied, given time we would have French royalty born in England despising the French, it's kinda what we do.
