Sounds good in theory. Until you run across someone trained in Tae Kwon Do...or Aikido...or Karate...

And how would they even KNOW who was Republican and who wasn't?

But it sounds to me like this goes beyond "self defense" and into "now go beat people up".

not quite- it sounds like it is focused on self-defense- but it is stretching it about as far as it will go, and certainly is unhelpful. (the actual intent is to help people defend themselves against an anticipated rise in hate crimes- however, I doubt an implied "us agianst them" attitude to republicans will help.
