  • Romney busted buying Twitter followers

    http://www.politicususa.com/mitt-rom...followers.html

Yeah, nothing suspicious about 100,000 followers in a day.

I think the headline is a little too sensationalistic, compared to the reality of the situation. When I hear that someone is "busted," I generally think law enforcement is getting involved.

So how much does being a Twitter follower pay anyway? Does he use Pay Pal or some other means of payment? If I'm an actual active follower of his and will re-tweet, would that get me an Ambassadorship or something?

No, he's just paying a spam-net with a few million Twitter accounts to pad his numbers. There aren't any genuine people behind those accounts (in the sense that it's someone's personal, primary Twitter account). It's just an e-peen measurement, and he's paying for some enhancement.
