  • Paris Hilton released

Is anyone else tired of seeing this piece of trash in the news? Lately, it seems that the first half of the news is discussing Paris...and everything else, including war coverage pushed towards the end, or not even mentioned. Now that I have a problem with--I watch the news for actual news, not to see how some piece of trash got sent to prison.

As my sociology teacher pointed out, a good portion of the news is dedicated towards deviancy. That sucks because who gives a crap about Paris Hilton? When she makes a difference in the world, a.k.a. gets a job other than making homemade porn, maybe I will. But personally, I'd actually like to hear about stories that actually have some importance.

Unfortunately, it has a big audience, increasing ad revenue.

Until we as a group of consumers get pissed and start not consuming this crap, it will continue.

While I despise Paris Hilton, and shudder at the sticky sound that MUST emit every time her skin touches and pulls away from something... I absolutely lived this whole situation...

Now before you get the tomaters out... Listen. I despise the woman, and hope to never see her on ANY form of media, let alone the news, again. But think about this...

She was caught driving drunk, had her license revoked, and put on probation. Caught not once but twice driving ANYWAY, the second time in dangerous conditions (no headlights on a dark street).

She was sentenced to do jail time... and did the "rich person" thing and tried to get out and it didn't WORK.

We have an entitlement queen FAIL. We have a rich person have the book thrown at them. She served her time.

Now that it is over I don't wanna see her on my TV again, but come on. Don't look at it as Paris Hilton, look at it as the rich person who tried to weasel out and failed.

In all honesty, she didn't fail as...err....good as she needed to fail. Any other normal average Joe would have spent the entire sentence in jail with NO special treatment and no getting out.

But yes, let's just be thankful she served what little time she did.
