  • Amanda Marcotte: MLP Movie Is For Porn

    http://www.slate.com/blogs/xx_factor...haracters.html

Amanda Marcotte has declared that the latest MLP movie is a ploy by Hasbro to get bronies sexy humanized ponies to jerk off to.

Which is ridiculous. For the obvious reason, that Hasbro was quite clear what they wanted to do with it, and the way it's constructed is clearly a highschool girl's movie.

And the even more obvious reason, bronies TOTALLY ALREADY DO jerk off to humanized ponies.

I don't know what Amanda Marcotte's view is, if she thinks bronies are sitting around saying "Oh, man, I want to jerk off to humanized ponies SO BADLY, but it's SO NON-CANON!"

But, as a friend of mine said, she seems so loony that Warner Brothers is going to sue her for royalties.

I've got a ticket a local showing of the movie - I'm a PegaSister :P I sure as shit don't sit around looking at pony porn. I just like the show! It's cute and I like the messages in the episodes. My son is a Bronie and the last time I checked he hasn't slinked off to his room to masturbate to thoughts of ponies or even humanized ponies. Heck, after the last episode of this season I don't know which one of us is more eager to see what is going to happen next season!

Seriously, not all adult fans are pervy about their enjoyment of the show. Oh, I know they exist, but seriously. I think that people like Amanda Marcotte are just jealous that they can't understand pop culture like this...meh. She can get bent.

Some do. Not all but its a big fandom. And...well. Rule 34 is in full effect for any fandom.

Yeah, not ALL do. But any who don't are unlikely to be pursuaded by brightly-colored Bratz dolls.

Personally I find the outright sexualization of the characters and the whole clop angle a little bit creepy. Parody of those aspects I don't necessarily have problems with, but someone actually getting off to it is kinda strange.

But then again, we have to admit that nothing stops Rule 34.

I watched the trailer just to see what they looked like, plus a Google image search but I wasn't sure what was fanfic anthropomorphic (wow that one didn't garner any red lines) images and what was official without looking too deeply.

Then I remembered there were two examples in the race lifting thread, looking back at those, I'll take the official look over those two, Rainbow dash is blue skinned and rainbow haired, not just the hair on whatever fandom has deemed her human form to be race wise.
So yeah it's very odd having humanoids with numerous colourful skin tones not just the varying levels we have on earth.

I don't even watch the show and thought the high school pony girl idea was awful and contrary to the show. In fact my first thought was that they had actually ripped off rule 34 porn. ;p

Honestly, whether they're ponies or people or fairies or aliens or whatever is irrelevant to the show's theme. The theme transcends all of that. Making people-ponies is just another marketing option, which is the ulterior motive behind its existence. We fans are just fortunate that they didn't leave it at that and decided to craft a real show to promote the toy business.

I think them being ponies being irrelevant is why it sounded irksome. By making them teenage girls they make their form relevant. Their form is now the focus and objective. MLP didn't need fashion or body issues. There were no little girls worried they weren't as thin as Rainbow Dash.

The fact that its nothing but an excuse to sell more shit and on some level you know they have to had considered that it plays right into the rule 34 bronie hands. I mean if you Google image search Equestria Girls you seriously only make it all of 3 rows before you hit sexy pony girl porn.

Never mind that the Equastria Girls designs are pretty much straight ripped from Deviant Art artists. Well, except Hasbro put miniskirts on all of them instead and made them rail thin clones of each other. When the Internet comes up with classier, more body positive designs than you did, you have a problem.

Also keeping the pony colours as skin tones looks creepy >.>

Edit Hasbro knows who its marketing too. ><

That's all of row 6 on a GIS.

I really hated that part at first, but then I realized you couldn't exactly change them to more natural colors. Any choice of colors would be sure to cause offense. Leaving them technicolor was the safe bet.

Plus, the final designs are still a vast improvement over the initial announcement ones. As I recall, originally the girls all kept their horns/wings, and had their cutie marks show up as a tattoo-like mark on one cheek.

                            It looked very bizarre.

Well if it was arse cheek then it's at least in the right place.

But there would be a shit storm if x characters were white when the fandom had fik'd some of them as black or Asian.
