  • I didnt mind him sayig he would pray for me untill ...

I needed to participate in said prayer.

Twice now (almost a year apart) I have had people saying they would like to pray for me about my not quite clubbed foot and the first one was at a day festival and I was just chilling out and didn't mind having a convo with a guy even after he broached the subject of religion and if I was interested in going to his church, it was an easy going day and I am quite chatty.

I have heard people say that they would pray for someone, but I took that as something that one could do on someone else's behalf even without them knowing about it, but this one was borderline faith healing without the full on razzmatazz, this wasn't the guy I was talking to but a fellow church member whom joined in on the conversation after I brought up my guestimate 20 things wrong with my legs, well I only brought up one or two but said I had about 20 things in general from cosmetic to I would rather have my leg cut off than one operation that will fix one issue but leave the rest unaffected.

So after the prayer I made my way to where I was originally going and left it at that, I had no belief that it would work but I didn't want to be rude and call them out on it, so it was easier to just humour them.

This Tuesday a few days after the next event a guy at my house asked how my leg was going and I said just as bad as it was last time we spoke, the exercises I need to do are undone if I sit down (I found this out after breaks at work, sitting for less than a minute could undo everything) and as I am not on my feet much it is more or less pointless to do them and I should see my GP about getting another follow up at the specialists.

He said he would pray for me and I said he could do that if he wanted, till it turned out it was going to be like the one last year and I made my excuses (well I did have plans to sit in front of a live stream its not quite an excuse) and left.

TLDR, I thought praying for someone didn't need that someone to be there, when did that change?

It didn't change, for almost everyone.
