Wow.
I read about this this morning, and should have saved the link because it said they were still trying to determine whether it was "foul play." Yes, as if it were remotely possible that it was natural, accidental, or self-inflicted."My in-laws are country people and at night you can hear their distinctive howl."

Well, you know HYHYBT, Mr. Sparkmans could have been practicing his Harry Houdini routine.
(That was sarcasm for those who couldn't figure it out).
But back to the OT ... Are there really suck backwards people out there in the United States? (I'm not going to say just in Kentucky - even though this is where it took place - but I can imagine it happening in other places). Is distrust in government that ingrained?Oh Holy Trinity, the Goddess Caffeine'Na, the Great Cowthulhu, & The Doctor, Who Art in Tardis, give me strength. Moo. Moo. Java. Timey Wimey

In Americans? Yes. Look around just on this board. You'll see multiple threads, with multiple intelligent, reasoning people from all over the US saying "I don't trust my government to do X without screwing up," or "I don't trust my government not to abuse Y," even moreso when it's something that other countries already do X/don't do Y.Originally posted by IDrinkaRum View Post= Is distrust in government that ingrained?Any comment I make should not be taken as an absolute, unless I say it should be. Even this one.

Just go all out and say "government sponsored healthcare". Don't just use "X" or "Y".Originally posted by BroomJockey View PostIn Americans? Yes. Look around just on this board. I don't trust my government no matter who is president, to a certain extent. Yes, I voted them into the office with the hope they'll do something to help me and my country, but they do sometimes move away from the views that got them elected in the first place, and then I complain.
However, I do not distrust my government so much that I would kill a government worker! That's just ... Batshit crazy in my book.Oh Holy Trinity, the Goddess Caffeine'Na, the Great Cowthulhu, & The Doctor, Who Art in Tardis, give me strength. Moo. Moo. Java. Timey Wimey

yes, because it's only health care that's causing the divide.Originally posted by daleduke17 View PostJust go all out and say "government sponsored healthcare". Don't just use "X" or "Y".
Sorry, no. At the rate your country is going, someone saying "the sky is blue" is going to cause an argument.

Why would I do that? I've seen it about lots of shit on here. I'm not going to limit it just to appease your sense of paranoia.Originally posted by daleduke17 View PostJust go all out and say "government sponsored healthcare". Don't just use "X" or "Y".
However, you've shown how deeply ingrained the governmental distrust is in the US. Now, apply that to a violent or less-than-stable individual, and you get this article as a result.Originally posted by IDrinkaRum View PostI don't trust my government no matter who is president, to a certain extent.Any comment I make should not be taken as an absolute, unless I say it should be. I agree with you. I'm one of those people that refuses to trust the government. Awww... you paid attention to me.Originally posted by BroomJockey View PostIn Americans? Yes. The article did state:
I mean, look, the chick does look like she's twacked out on meth anyway.Although anti-government sentiment was one possibility in the death, some in law enforcement also cited the prevalence of drug activity in the area — including meth labs and marijuana fields — although they had no reason to believe there was a link to Sparkman's death.Crooked banks around the world would gladly give a loan today so if you ever miss a payment they can take your home away.

There's a kind of logic there... "I'm unsure whether the government will do what I want, but if I kill their employees then I know they definitely WILL do something I won't like and certainty is better than worry."Originally posted by IDrinkaRum View PostHowever, I do not distrust my government so much that I would kill a government worker! I didn't say it was *sane* logic."My in-laws are country people and at night you can hear their distinctive howl."

OMG! Thank goodness I wasn't eating or drinking or Rule #1 would have been broken!
I guess .. I suppose ... maybe somewhere in that twisted ... "logic" ... there is a linear point from a to b to c.
Hmmm ... I'll have to ponder this.
But I still say ... crazy is as crazy does.
And I say I hope they catch the people who did this.Oh Holy Trinity, the Goddess Caffeine'Na, the Great Cowthulhu, & The Doctor, Who Art in Tardis, give me strength. Moo. Moo. Java. Timey Wimey
