You'd only need to be about 75, not 120, so it's easy for there to be people alive today, but you'll notice that she said Ontario filing. Not "People in Ontario." It's the government of the province that's filed, which means they don't need a single living person of age.Originally posted by MergedLoki View Postunless you're 120 you KNEW that they weren't lil sticks of longetivity.Any comment I make should not be taken as an absolute, unless I say it should be. Look at some of the literature from the 19th centurary. Cigarettes were commonly called coffin nails. I don't know about Canada but here the surgeon general's warning was required on cig packs since the early 60's, so my opinion is anyone that has smoked since then doesn't have a case.
In my state the state legislature didn't use the money for it so-called intended purpose but used it to prop up state budget instead of raising taxes. That lasted until they run out of settlement money and then they raised taxes. If the state doesn't want to incur health care related expenses on smokers then don't allow them health care that they can't pay for, but if the smokers paid into the health care system while they were smoking then it's tough noogies for the state.
Some people are more suceptible (sp) to cancer than others, I'm sure we all know of people that smoked for decades and their lungs are clear but others that never smoked have died of lung cancer. My Dad never smoked but he either chewed or dipped since he was a small kid. Emphazima (sp) was one of the things he had problems with and never had any problems related to his chew.Cry Havoc and let slip the marsupials of war!!!

"To stop it happening again"; yeah, so the huge payout isn't the incentive? Yeah, and I'm the First Lady.
