Being felt up at the airport

It's the scene I'm worried about. The undue stress, pressure, and attention the passenger may have to experience. How crushing could/would the embarrassment be? It has the potential to scandalous and costly.

And if someone being patted down was a rape/trauma survivor or otherwise hated being touched/had sensory issues? (I know a few people with AS/autism that don't like being touched by strangers at all). Do they know how to handle that?

That's not an accurate comparison. The body scanners pump your skin up with the amount of radiation that is considered 'safe' to be administered through the entire body, all within a very, very short amount of time. We simply don't have the kind of research on this to know how safe it is for us to us, we have no research from neutral sources, we have zero research on the long term affects of this kind of exposure to our skin and tissue, and we simply have no means of determining if the machines are outputting even the amount of energy we're told they are. It's a cancerous powder keg waiting to happen.

pilots, flight attendants, and airport staff all go through security every day...

And on the topic of being 'felt up'... Isreal has one of the best security records on the planet, and they don't have to go unduely intimant with their passengers to do it... from friends who have traveled there, my understanding is that they are so successful without being unduely invasive, because they train their security staff to recognize the difference between normal nervous flier jitters and actual suspicious activity.

Except for the TSA themselves. They don't have to go through any of their own checks. Hell, if I were running a terrorist organization, I know where I'd be seeding my infiltrators.

Not to mention if you have to fly everyday, like doing business. You get hit with these x-rays hundreds of times a year. Over a couple decades that's thousands of times. You sure you wont develop cancer doing this????

A breast cancer survivor (and flight attendant) made to go through the pat-down procedure even after she'd gone through the scanner.

Personally, I think that this sort of thing falls under "unreasonable searches and seizures", something the 4th amendment protects against.

LOL This doesn't even come close to being a violation of the 4th amendment. You don't HAVE to fly. You want to use their services? You have to go through their security. Flying on a plane is not a God given right like some people seem to think.

The Fourth Amendment prevents cops from just walking up to you and demand they search you or from just walking into your house and searching the place. It has NOTHING to do with security checkpoints in a building for an optional way of travel.

Just because you have business to attend to doesn't mean your priorities are more important. As I've said, there are other ways to travel. Just because they are a lot slower doesn't mean they can't be used.

First off, if you can't drive or take the bus or the train...how do you plan on getting to the airport?

No, you don't have to fly. But if you weren't aware of what they do and choose to not go through it, you are either forced to let them do it anyway, or you face civil charges and a $10,000 fine. WTF?
