Just a note folks, the size in Australia is a little bit different to the US. So the Size 8 in the article would be around about a size 4-6 in the US.

I'm around a size 16-18 in Australian clothing, which puts me at a Size 12-14 in the US.

With news like this, child pageants making little children (some as young as infant age), ultra-thin (yuck) women on magazine covers (and everywhere else), etc. no wonder we have these issues.

Size 4-6 are very small sizes by North American standards, so I don't see why the fact that it's an Australian size 8 is relevant.

That's fucked up. This is what is completely fucked up about the modeling industry these days. Women having to look skinny as a heroin junkie to get in the modeling career. I think the modeling industry should go back to the modeling from the 1950's when it was okay for female models to have curves!

Without knowing its the same size just numbered differently, you could just assume its the size 8 of your countries sizing charts and think its larger, how larger I have no idea, dress sizes confuse me, not that I've worn one in years.
For example, male and female shoes in the UK have different numbers, so a woman wishing to wear doc martin boots has to then find out their male shoe size, men going the other way need specialist shoe makers unless they have tiny feet, it would be so much easier if we just had one shoe size slide.

I have trouble with weights and conversions (thanks useless early years maths teacher), I don't know what 125 lb's is in Kilo or stone (I only know my weight in stone as that's what the scale displayed (9 and I'm underweight for my height)) so I see a large number and without seeing the pic of the rather attractive looking woman, I just see large number = xxl model auditioning to address the body type images, not that I have anything against a larger woman wearing clothes that the woman on the street could wear.

Clothes I see on cat walks are like concept cars, nice to look at, but never to be sold to or worn by joe public, so fasion models being natural sizes and if that means larger size, then so be it. I myself would rather see clothing designed for the buying public not just showing off their skills in dressing pipecleaner dolls vs Barbie/Sindie.

So very very true, as I said, numbers regarding weights mean nothing to me, I see a large number and just assume largeish.
125lb is nothing of the kind, its quite a nice healthy number to be at by the way she wears it, the guy complaining of oversized luggage should buy a bag for the trip hes packing for not try and get a suitcase into a holdall (even if the article says he was talking about her pose).

And to reiterate whats already been said (this time in song) do not read beauty magazines, they will only make you feel ugly.

forgot to say in this or my other post, no one told me what lb stood for or how it was said, I knew of pound weight and pound sterling (aka quids) but didn't know they were the wieght and used to call em L'B's and illibills (pronounced like sylibles)
