I can't help but think of This Movie while reading through this thread.

I love that movie, I think the bits where the heads son is around pretty much illustrate the futility.

Well for starters, God "couldn't" change you because he made you the way you are in the first place.

I honestly wish I could believe that. Frankly, my experience has done less to convince me that I'm the way God made me and more to convince me that there is no God. A soul, yes, a spiritual plane, yes, but an all loving God, no, simply can't reconcile that with my experience. No matter what, God would have made a mistake in my life, either in the way he created me or in who he chose me to associate with, and as they love to point out, God doesn't make mistakes... well, a mistake was made, and if God is incapable of making mistakes, then there must not be a God.
