The thing not sitting right with me is in one of her accounts, she only says "a boy approached me." Not 2 boys. She also goes on to give a very detailed account of everything that happened. Too much detail is usually a sign of fabrication.

Ordinarily I would agree with you, but with something this horrific, I could easily see everything happened simply being burned into her brain by the sheer horror of it.

I know they arrested two people. But one had an alibi (his aunt said that he was at home with her at the time)

I'm really hoping that they have arrested the right people. If not it means that the real killer is still out there and two kids are going to have their lives ruined.

It's the most believable of all the scenarios, IMO. The fact is the fact: somebody shot a baby in the face. That, alone, is hard to believe, yet there's no doubt that happened. I don't see how the mother doing it is any more or less believable than some robbers doing it.

I've read some comments that essentially say that the mother's story is unbelievable, therefore it's not possible. Therefore the mother must be responsible.

Such a theory doesn't manage to explain how the mother managed to make a gun disappear while in the presence of multiple eyewitnesses.

Either way, there are reports that gunshot residue tests were performed on the mother and father, and both turned up negative. She gave the jacket she was wearing at the time to the police, and no gun was found on her or her husband.

6 people have been arrested in this case at this point, one of them a county official.

They've arrested the two boys, the alleged shooter's mother, sister, aunt, and this county official. They believe they found the gun used in the shooting, but ballistic tests haven't come back yet. They also think the killing might've been gang related.

Without a gag order, you can't really do much about who says what to the press. Police officers should be a bit more mum about very specific details, but as soon as a case attracts the media, there's little you can do about blabbermouths telling the whole story.

Also, I'm not sure about this, but in order to indict someone for a crime, there needs to be some sufficient evidence for it to even be brought to trial. This paper work, AFIAK, is public, and can contain some important information about the prosecution's case.

This sort of reporting really gets me mad. Did the mother call her daughter and ask straight off the bat? Or did she ask after 3 hours of shared grief when the conversation went around to how she was going to pay the bills without being able to work due to her grief?

One scenario shows her as a heartless cow, the other a typical grieving mother whose entire world has collapsed.

This one is really...I don't know. I agree there's something that just kinda feels off about the whole affair. What that is I'm not entirely sure. Its just such an amazingly cold blooded act that your mind kind of rejects it as the outcome of a simple mugging.

Seeing as the prime suspect was wanted for an earlier mugging where he also shot the person in the arm and stole their cellphone. He's willing to wound to prove he's serious so I can see him shooting her in the leg. But its a hell of a jump from winging someone to make them fork over money and literally executing a baby on the street.

In the States you're guilty or innocent in the media way before the trial ever starts and the outcome of the trial is utterly meaningless afterwards. Once the media tells the public you're guilty, you'll be treated as such for the rest of your life even after you're proven innocent. The US media loves a good witch hunt.

If you want something to make your face twitch, allow me to introduce you to Nancy Grace. The Harpy of The Baskervilles. Hell she even drove one suspect to suicide.

For me it is the fact that I have seen no tears at all. I see a lot scrunching up the face and the fact that in one she had all eye makeup on makes me wonder. I know that I would be crying constantly and would not be up, out of bed for ANY media or ANYBODY for that matter. She just seems too calm and matter of fact about watching her child shot in the face. It just seems unreal.

To put in into perspective, my mother was so freaked out when my little brother was in a minor car accident, that she took off at night and she has almost zero night vision. He wasn't even injured, but that is her baby boy and she had to go to him.

The crying thing can be awfully misleading, though. Not everybody reacts the same way. And, again, there aren't any plausible alternative suggestions.
