      I'm sorry, but my mother's been driving a Mitsubishi Pajero for the last 15-20 years, never backed into it, there isn't an unobstructed view of anything under about 3' from directly behind the vehicle, if you check you mirrors and actually look over your shoulder there's no excuse for hitting anything unless it's actively hiding behind your car.
