Look, I've worked in a tox lab. A clear sample would be suspicious. No sample ever seemed to be lighter than a pale yellow. It's obvious when someone tried to dilute their urine.Violence has resolved more conflicts than anything else. as said, suspicious yes. guilty? not necessarily. PLUS, even IF she was intentionally screwing with the results, it doesn't justify imprisoning her "until further order of this court" i.e. until someone can be bothered to let her out. PLUS, you DO need a hearing, to allow them a chance to defend themselves. For example, in case there was a mixup at the lab.Originally posted by Greenday View PostLook, I've worked in a tox lab. Given my field of study, I've had plenty of people ask me how to beat a drug test (As if I'd actually help someone do that). I always just respond, "Don't do drugs."Originally posted by bex1218 View PostI drink enough water to keep it clear. On my first trip to MEPS when i tried to enlist in the Navy, I had to take a urine test. Prior to taking it, they asked what I had for breakfast that morning and i said a bowl of Frosted Flakes with a glass of pineapple juice.
Apparently, that was way too much sugar to get a clear test, so I had to drink enough water to pee out all of the sugar and then drink more to be able to provide a sample for testing. It was a fun day. Some People Are Alive Only Because It's Illegal To Kill Them.

There's a guy out there who helps people with bullshit charges who, when asked how to get out of a speeding ticket answers, "Don't speed."Originally posted by Greenday View PostGiven my field of study, I've had plenty of people ask me how to beat a drug test (As if I'd actually help someone do that). bear in mind that for certain drugs tests, even not doing drugs doesn't always work. food with poppy seeds, for example, can cause a false positive on an test for opiates. (well, false positive in that you aren't taking opium deliberately- there's trace amounts of opium in the seeds)
In short, you do need to watch out.

That depends on the test. Most consumer purchasable ones will register as a false positive either due to hypersensitivity (aka if you pass this than no official test will flunk you) or a problem in production. The test systems that laboratories use are calibrated MUCH better and can even differentiate between poppy seeds or refined opiates.Originally posted by s_stabeler View Postbear in mind that for certain drugs tests, even not doing drugs doesn't always work. food with poppy seeds, for example, can cause a false positive on an test for opiates. you're right, but it is still a good idea to be careful, since the consumer-purchasable tests are sometimes used by companies drug-testing their employees as a cheaper alternative to getting a decent lab to run the tests. So if you KNOW you are going to get a drugs test done, then avoid poppy seeds for a few days first. Just as a precaution.

That's a good idea, but even if you do eat poppy seeds, just mention it to the person testing you.Originally posted by s_stabeler View Postyou're right, but it is still a good idea to be careful, since the consumer-purchasable tests are sometimes used by companies drug-testing their employees as a cheaper alternative to getting a decent lab to run the tests. won't help- 99% of the time, for ( say) a pre-employment drug screening, they usually just look at the non-zero number for the level of opiate in your blood, and cancel the job offer. Then, you're screwed, - you need to start all over again looking for jobs.Originally posted by Greenday View PostThat's a good idea, but even if you do eat poppy seeds, just mention it to the person testing you.
