Ignorant Politicians, and people

I wouldn't put it past politicians to legislate against stupidity if only because they are so dense as to think that they are geniuses.

Some rather mischievous people managed to get an Australian Green Party politician to sign a motion to ban dihydrogen monoxide, if memory serves.

Politicians will do things to either curry favour with the public for votes, or because it's in the interests of the voters. (Supposedly...). Usually the former. They're capable of doing some very stupid things.

Close, but not quite (from what I can find). Firstly, an New Zealand Greens Party politician did sign it (and that went down well!)

An Australian politician proposed the ban in parliament... but it was on April Fools Day, so I'd say that it was intended as a joke (actually, that makes me feel good... to have politicians who can actually joke around in parliament... occaisonally!)

When was the last time anyone here had a Treasurer who actually had a qualification in either economics or accounting? Or a foreign minister with a degree in International Relations... or even History?

How about this? A few years back, some official got blasted for using the word "niggardly" in a speech. Rather than look up the word's meaning (it means "small"), several idiots started claiming that the official was "racist"

That's what I like about Australians. Every so often, they decide to not give a shit, and make everyone else know it. Great cultural trait.

I just thought the AK47 had a hell of a kick on it, that's all... so wasn't all that good at accuracy in the first place, tis all..

A .50-Cal also has a hell of a kick, but those are the extreme range sniper rifles ( 1.5 miles and up)

It doesn't matter what the kick has for sniping, so long as it occurs after the round leaves the barrel. Remember, sniping is one shot, one kill. You don't usually use burst or full auto for sniping duty.

Ideally, a quick release scope would be on an assault rifle, so the burst and auto modes don't damage the scope.

Now some of the anti-gun politicians may actually know what they are doing and want to ban all guns. But as they can't get away with that they instead choose to hinder hassle free ownership as much as possible.

i've come to the conclusion that politicians have never been and will never be anything other than con-men. Their job is to convince the majority of people in their area, that happen to hold conflicting beliefs, that they want what the people want. Qualifications never mattered. Even public speaking isn't necessary. Just a real snowjob contest.
