That's because you missed the entire point. The point was people ascribe negative personality traits to a physical characteristic. "Oh, he just cussed out that cashier for dropping his drink. He must have a tiny dick." *THAT* is the part that hurts.

Did you even read the thread?

Penis size is important to many people. They aren't wrong or idiots for preferring what they prefer. That may hurt those of us with smaller members, but facts are facts. Many people can't fall in love with short people, fat people, etc. I couldn't fall in love with a woman that doesn't smell right, no matter how pretty, smart, or nice she is.
Not every good person is right for every other good person.

Heard it from a chum of mine who was slightly drunk and expounding to a group of women about what they should prefer in a man. He got away with being sneered at.

Yeah well if one is wearing a tank top or swimsuit breast size is a lot more obvious than a guy wearing jeans-and man did I used to get the insults(I'm a 36B-same size as Paris Hilton-yay me!)-personally I don't care-I'm 33, a mother and they're still up where they should be without needing a bra

duh, I could have told you that. I even know smart dorky guys/girls who aren't interested in smart dorky guys/girls. I know that I'm in a minority in finding smart dorky guys to be about the hottest thing imaginable

there is something to be said about being gay in that you know VERY well where we stand... also it is very easy to know if your partner is being truthful about whether or not you are doing a good job because, well, being blunt, a guy knows how a guy acts when there is genuine pleasure and we can tell when a guy is faking it... but that's really a different topic.

And you're right, size shouldn't matter... and I know that I wouldn't write a guy off for having a small penis, I'd even go so far as to say that I'd prefer someone with a good personality over someone with a big dick... sadly, I'm enough of a realist to know that I'm happy to have a big enough penis to be able to hold my own in the real world

I'm fascinated by some of the outcomes of this thread so far. Makes admining CS far more intriguing. With a smaller group of members, you find that there are only so many permutations of people. Fewer ways to cause offence, if that's making sense. From an admin point of view, each extra person dislikes or is offended by different things, complicating it more.

I may start another thread on this elsewhere.

Back to the original topic, and trying to escape the thread hijacking that's happened:

I'm lucky in that, from what I've been told, I have no reason to be self-conscious. And yet, I am. Why? Because I've never compared myself to other guys. I don't know what average is. I don't know how I compare. I don't know if I'm being told that I have no reason to be self-conscious to protect my fragile ego, or if I'm being told the truth.

Toss in the overwhelming emphasis on how important it is for guys not to have a tiny penis. It becomes very very difficult to avoid worrying about it. Am I adequate? Does my partner feel that way? Even though she seems happy, and even though she says she's happy, is that for the benefit of my ego? How do I know that she's not just saying what I want to hear?

Should it matter? Of course not. Just as breast size should not matter. And yet, even though it shouldn't, it does. Reality sucks sometimes.

Blas, I don't think anyone was attacking you.

Keep in mind that many stereotypes exist, because there usually is some truth to them. For example, locally, the vast majority of the "beautiful" people...are idiots. (Not trying to slam you.) Many of these people have always gotten by on their looks, and have rarely had to do anything themselves. Also, they all seem to have the attitude that everyone else has to kiss their ass because of the way they look, and that everyone who doesn't look like them...is inferior. Resentment is *exactly* how that stereotype got started, and why it continues.

But, I should also mention this. Appearances aren't everything. I admit, I like the T&A as much as the next guy. However, I don't let that be my only criteria for "hotness." No, I actually do prefer someone that I can have an intelligent conversation with. Oh, and by that...I don't mean discussing the complete works of Shakespeare. I mean, that she's not using "like" as every third word, and I don't have to explain everything. Of course, if intelligence and looks ever came my way... I wouldn't complain

Apologies, BJ, I wasn't referring to you personally, more of a general "you" and a general truce amongst us all.

Edit to add: I realize in my 4 and counting years at CS, I have made blanket statements and said some rude things about general groups of people. And I took my warnings and advice in stride...and sat aside and watched other members make blanket statements and threads with pages and pages insulting people like me....and for the longest time, I just kept my mouth shut (or rather, my fingers still) because I figured hey, this is what I get for talking crap about dorky guys, older men, older women, and the elderly......this is how I used to make some people feel, now I know, ok I get it. Then once I read this, I felt the need to speak up. It's not as ubiquitous as I make it out to seem, but those threads and topics do exist....and even though they don't happen every day and you can't pull up a search with several pages of threads like that, I have seen them and read them. And it gets really hard to not respond or react when I read that.
