So, Ree, you're saying it's not true that you bathe in the blood of innocent little kittens to maintain your youth and vitality? Cause that's what I heard...
I will never forget about the time, I got yelled at by you, lol
Oh...I don't think I actually yelled at you.
After all, there wasn't an all caps message from me, was there?
Boozy explained perfectly the reason we keep such tight reins on things.
I think it's effective.
We have a great membership, and more people joining all the time.
I think one of the reasons is because we do keep things on an even course.
Some may not agree with the way it's done, but I think many people would be very surprised at the number of reported posts we get in any given day with members pointing out things to the mods. The majority of the membership understands the way things are meant to be on the sites, and go the extra step to help keep things going smoothly.
Lulz. XD You were always really nice to me and explained things to me well, and I know that if I ever have any problems I can PM you. *hugs* So I know you're a nice person, Ree.
I've been told off by several mods; I'm still horribly scarred for life. O.o
I came on CS.com straight from Metal Sludge, so I obviously was not used to being on a heavily moderated forum at all at first. Hopefully now, touch wood, I'm a bit better at knowing what to say and what not to say.
Tbh, I'm still scarred from the time Ree gave me a warning...years ago. I have nightmares about it...
LOL
You poor thing.
I know Ree pretty well, and she doesn't hold grudges. I can guarantee you that she's forgotten all about it, so you should too.
Speaking in vague generalities now: Fratching and CS.com are the two most heavily moderated forums I've ever been on. It's no coincidence that they are the only two forums to which I've ever become a long-term member. I think that message boards have the potential to become on-line communities, but only if there's strong and attentive moderation. Otherwise we end up with in-fighting, cliques, snide remarks, and a whole whack of spam.
CS is one of those places that requires keeping everyone on topic, all the time. In order to provide a safe place to vent, the emphasis needs to be about what we all have in common (sucky customers). There are people of all ages, races, shapes, sizes, and religious persuasions on CS. When we allow controversial topics or other divisive content, one can easily forget that we're "all in this together". We need to focus on our similarities and not our differences.
That's why we have the strict rules that we do. And that's why sometimes people get banned. A banned member is not necessarily a bad person (although we have had those). Sometimes people cannot resist sharing their opinions on controversial topics. Sometimes they can't resist giving unsolicited advice, or telling someone they're wrong about something. Sometimes they're just really really bad at wording their responses in order not to offend.
We all know people like this. We're all friends with people like this. We like them. But they wouldn't be a good fit for CS.com. And that's all it comes down to.
Actually, I noticed you were banned before you posted about it. I saw the thread you linked to and noticed that your name was crossed out above your posts in that thread.
It is hard to take anything seriously when you broke the rules badly enough to get yourself banned, especially if you were on moderated status before it happened. That's disrespectful to Raps and all the mods, whom the great majority of the posters here and on CS have nothing but respect and admiration for. I am really not sure how you expected anyone to care about the consequences of your obviously wrong actions.
Tbh, I'm still scarred from the time Ree gave me a warning...years ago. I have nightmares about it...
I had no idea you were banned on CS. I rarely post on there these days. I don't work in anything with regular customers and I'm not allowed to go into detail about what I do so there's really no reason for me posting as much there anymore. But yea, if you were banned on CS, I'm pretty sure there was a reason behind it. CS and Fratching are the best moderated forums I've ever been on. They are extremely fair and are quick to respond to issues. I've been nothing but impressed by the mods.
Personally, I don't care why you were banned and I'm not curious enough to ask you. I was just pointing out that I did notice for a period of time that you were a moderated poster, and that meant you'd done enough to have to have all your posts approved first, so that should have clued you in that you need to quit breaking rules before you get banned.
I've been in my fair share of trouble before, even on CS. I learned from it. If you don't want to play by the rules, then you really shouldn't be there.
