It is. ^^ I put in onions, garlic, tomatoes, peppers, courgettes and any spare veg I have lying around, and put it in with spinach and ricotta ravioli. It's yummers, and even confirmed carnivores like it.

I wholeheartedly agree....its *those* veg-heads that make us reasonable ones look bad. Who the heck goes to a bbq and expects veggies??
And veg ravioli? That sounds divine....ok....droool......Cat is hungry

Turning up to a single mans BBQ expecting a veggie option is like turning up to a wine and cheese party whilst being lactose intolerant and expecting a lactose free meal.
If you have specific diet requirements or needs, you should check in advance if someone is able to provide for you. As Lace said, she would happily have prepared an alternative option if she had been informed, but she wasn't. It's not her fault, it's the fault of the person with the dietary needs.
You see cases like this all the time. Vegetarians going out with friends for dinner to a Steak House. Now, any slightly intelligent person would see the word steak and come to the conclusion that the main ingredients will be meat. If they need a vegetarian meal, it's usually a good idea to ring in advance and ask if they have anything available.
It would be like someone going to a Vegan restaurant and complaining about the absence of meat on the menu.
I'm lactose intolerant. I tell people about this if they're gonna to prepare me food. If I don't tell people, it's my own damn fault.

That's exactly what I'm talking about; and those kind of people who do that are nearly always the veggies we're talking about in the thread. Happened to a mate of mine, who hosted a barbeque. Said mate was at the time, single so his barbeques always consisted of a pile of meat to throw on the barbeque and a pile of beer in the corner. This guy showed up with his vegetarian girlf, having said nothing whatsoever about her being veggie, and she expected my mate to rush out and buy her some veggie food. He refused to, so she had to go into the house and make herself a sandwich.
She spent the entire barbeque bitching about the unfairness of my mate's refusal to bend over backwards and run out and get her some veggie burgers. Thing is, he's a nice guy and if they'd rung up beforehand, he would have happily tossed in some Linda McCartney burgers along with all the meat he was buying. I agreed with him; why should he have to rush off, leaving the rest of the guests alone, just to pander to this selfish bitch? I bloody well wouldn't have; and I really don't see why I, or anyone else, should do anything like that.
If I was making dinner and there were vegetarians among the guests, I'd happily make a vegetable ravioli. However, if someone just shows up without saying so beforehand and I've made chicken curry, then fuck them. They can either starve or have a cheese sandwich, and I sure as hell won't be inviting them again.

If someone just shows up and think you should cook whatever for them, then yes, no matter their diet they are an ass. If you invite someone over, it's just good hosting to make a meal they will enjoy. If someone invited me over, and said something to the effect of, oh, but I am making just a meat dish, nothing else, I don't go over.

Are you talking about inviting people over for dinner? If thats the case then you are the host. I've always been taught that a good host makes reasonable acomodations for the guests.
Besides who makes an all meat meal anyways? All it takes is having a salad on the table.

That's why I love Facebook for party planning. I can ask ahead of time if anybody has any food allergies or special needs (vegetarians, vegans, etc.) By now, I generally know - one friend is allergic to chicken/eggs (although she eats them occasionally and just deals with the hives), another is allergic to mushrooms, and there are a couple of vegetarians. If somebody new showed up unexpectedly and said, "Oh, I can't have this," I would at least look for something I could heat up and serve to them.
Blame my Southern raisin'.

I can be won over with minute rice, can of black beans, and hot sauce. Good noms!Originally posted by Red Panda View PostIf your hosting a party you should make an effort to make sure your guests are happy and taken care of. Well in the case of a dinner party, it just good manners for everyone to bring a small dish, or at least that was what I was taught. Then it basically eat what you want from there (and side dishes are usually veg-friendly) In the Kosher reference, I should have said some sort of beef-n-cheese caserole, where you cannot separate the dish.
If it was just me being invited over (no party) I'd ask what was being made, can I bring anything, and btw, I eat veggies. Just polite.

No, but I wouldn't slave over a hot stove making three separate meals for different people. I'd just make them plain burgers and not add the bacon and cheese. If I'm cooking for people and they are veggie or whatever, they can just eat what they're given or bring their own food. I really don't see why I should have to cook separate meals for people.Originally posted by Cat View PostAs for the "eat what I make or gtfo," if you have a Kosher friend, would you make them bacon cheesburgers? Well actually in that case, it would be easy enough when cooking to leave the bacon and cheese off the burger. Um, my mom has used the excuse if someone is kosher and asks about the hotdogs, yes they are kosher, it won't kill them if they don't know they breaking the "rules", kind of shitty but you would have to know her friend, only really brings her annoying kids and a bag of chips to a pot luck but that is a whole nothing rant I will start.Originally posted by Cat View Post

I agree with hating when people act like im evil for eating meat. When is the last time you saw a lion eating tofu?
OH great story to share my one ex it turns out became allegric to soy after years of not eating meat, she actually enjoys being back on the dark side.
EDIT:
New bitching point, I $#%#$ hate "vegans" who are really vegitarians, Im sorry, a true vegan wouldn't consume cheese or milk (ok they can so soy milk). Really mislabled people in general annoy me, your not heterosexual if your male who wants to give oral pleasure to another male, not saying there is anything wrong with it, Just saying we need to ban Dihydrogen Mono-oxide and stop women from suffering!!!!Last edited by insertNameHere; 05-22-2010, 06:17 AM.

I am glad it was just a joke and a test of how well people know their history. They were surprised actually they had a couple of women who self identified as feminists sign.Originally posted by telecom_goddess View PostAnd women who signed this were stupid enough to NOT know what suffrage is?? I don't think people get stupider I think there is just more stupid people due to a larger population.
