crashhelmet. honestly? because all the times I have tried to be nice to this family member in public gatherings or face to face she has been a b*tch to me yet sucks up or plays nice to me online so I finally told her go piss up a rope. So when she does try to friend me on facebook I told her no and please stop posting in caps. I stopped trying to be nice and I think she does it not just because it annoys but because she REALLY doesn't know better.

And Lachrymose, I did not know that little net meme and no...it may be funny but not to me cause I am not cool, never was and made it my goal to super glue hands to lockers of the popular kids who thought it important enough to publicly humiliate me. not a threat but a phase mind you

I personally will overlook a couple of typos, misspelled words, shortened words etc, as long as the rest of the post is readable. However, I am not going to bother reading a post which is basically just a mishmash of badly spelt chatspeak which steals the Great Wall of China. That is the equivilent of not only wearing clothes that are covered with food stains, but also smelling as tho you just peed your pants.

Yes, you have every right to wear your curry stained t-shirt and your pee smelling jeans. No, people should not judge you, and they should listen to what you have to say. But sadly, you shouldn't hold your breath.

I agree that some people are nitpicky to the extreme; such as people who home in on a poorly spelt word or typo and concentrate on that, ignoring the point made in the sentence. However, that does not excuse a person from being lazy and typing like a moron. Both are bad in my book and will be given equal amounts of contempt.

Not to be one to point out grammatical errors, but your'e guilty of a few here yourself.

As long as I can read what they're trying to say, I could care less if it's typed like this, LIKE THIS, or LiKe ThIs.

To be honest, the whole "Grammar/Spelling/Typing Nazi" thing has just gotten out of hand. People so desperately want to flame someone for whatever they can, that they resort to their typing. Just because they appear to be ignorant, doesn't mean that they are or that their arguments are invalid.

all of it. I love the phrase wall o' text....people who write in run on sentences and run on paragraphs.....damn if they talked like that they'd fall over and die from lack of air.

I find it annoying in the same way that I find Typing Like This, LiKe ThIs, or using chatspeak irritating. To me, someone posting like that is a complete fuckwad, and I'll just ignore them. On loads of forums I've been on, it's actually against the rules to type retardedly; if you don't like that rule, then don't let the door hit you on your way out, to be honest.

I find all caps to be an obnoxious way of typing; much like typing in giant or tiny font. And there really is no need whatsoever for it; everyone has the choice to leave their damn capslock alone.

not so much rage but that its annoying. and i did say "It gets on my nerves....however I did try to politely point it out to her..." so yes annoying but not rage inducing.
I still read it, the wall of text and alternating caps is odd but yeah it does deter me from wanting to read it some.

and I understand you feel its not a big deal. I suppose this could go in "i find it annoying" not things i hate. but that subforum not exist?

I'm going to take the completely opposite side of this argument and say why the hell does it matter if they're in all caps or not? Just because someone somewhere on the Internet once said caps is for yelling? Are you that shallow or petty that someone's use of the caps lock key launches you into a bout of "net rage"?

Some people act like anything and everything they hold near and dear was just insulted, spat, and shat on when people type in all caps.

    Get over it.

the poor spelling I do understand as I have a friend who for many many reasons personal and otherwise cannot spell properly and tries so very hard to when posting online or on IM. I know how to read most of her typing as she uses the spell how it sounds first before asking for corrections so I have yet to ever pick on her for it but she too does not type in all caps. So even she knows 'net manners.

How about a wall of text, in all caps with no disregard to grammar? O_o

The last, definitely, though the 'wall o' text' definitely comes in at second place. All Caps or alternating caps, I can deal with, if a cursory examination tells me it's worth the effort.

Wall o' text? I skip it almost automatically. If the topic is one I'm interested in, I might make the effort, but it has to be major interest.

Completely bollixed grammar? I start ignoring the authors entirely, even if the topic is interesting. It's just not worth my time to translate - or try, anyway.
