SHOUTING IN THE WRITTEN WORD IS POINTLESS AND ANNOYING.

I often have to explain this to newbies on the forums that I admin on; namely that all caps is basically the internet equivilent to shouting and if they want to accentuate their words, they can bold or italicise them instead.

I hate that, too. The only time I've been ok with is was when the person was completely upfront about how they needed to post in caps to be able to see it at all...they had to do some other things, too, to read other people's posts, like copy and paste them and stuff. So THAT was fine. But when it's just like that for no apparent reason? That is annoying.

I don't remember the site, or even what *sort* of site it was, but I remember one person with that habit explaining it by saying it was so that, when scanning through a thread, they could find their own posts more easily. Never mind what that does to everyone ELSE trying to read.

I have a few people in extended family that do this and I dunno if thats how they write normally or cannot see normal lowercase font or they just do it.
I know its not intentional but it always seems like this particular person is angry or something. But then again considering her general attitude it makes sense. HOWEVER EVERY POST IS LIKE THIS EVEN IF ITS JUST A GENERAL UPDATE ON HOW SHE IS AND THE POST ITSELF IS NOT ANGRY.

And its not just those particular family members its other people in my friends list. Annoying if it were once in a while but its EVERY POST. It gets on my nerves....however I did try to politely point it out to her that all caps is not necessary. Lets see if it works
