Aye this is the kind of thing that needs curbing, purely due to the financial aspect, anything after bills is his money unless there is a big spend due, you cant buy a car if you never save up for one.
It's hard to justify the bachelor life style if you aren't one, I advocate away time only cos I personally can't be around the same people for too long without a break, but a guys weekend if it isn't financially viable?
