One of my daughters' friends had a really weird odor, supposedly he showered so I dunno.

But every so often, someone on the treadmill beside me absolutely reeks. It must have something to do with their diet or something. Fresh (not stale) human sweat shouldn't really smell offensive.

Diet can play a huge part. Also, any drugs they happen to be taking, legal or otherwise, as well as random disorders.

Plus, if it's what they smell like all of the time, they can't smell it at all.

We used to have a woman at my office that would bathe in perfume, and was some seriously cheap crap, too.

I've either read about or discovered (I don't remember which) putting used dryer sheets in your shoes help immensely with funky feet. I also know using old dryer sheets will collect the dirt and dust from polishing pistol brass in a vibrating tumbler.

Baby powder helps too, but it's really messy and all of your socks end up with white residue that's hard to wash off. (I don't wear white socks, I hate white clothing).

I have one friend who never wears deodorant, because he claims that humans don't need it. "I never have BO," he says, "I only sometimes get a little Man Funk."

Like there's a difference?! Dude, if someone else tells you that you need deodorant, that means you reek. You can't smell yourself because your nose has succumbed to olfactory fatigue, but everyone else can smell you. And you stink!

sadly, my coworkers and myself usually smell just horrible.

Not really our fault(and we really can't smell it anymore, it's in our clothes, hair, and skin-we are required to shower daily-day starts smelling like soap), has to do with the job. You know how med students reek of formaldehyde during anatomy class? Well Salmonella and e-coli H:0157 smell like dirty diapers that have been sealed in a hot car for a week-it's RANK, you pick up a biohazzardous waste bag to tie it off, and find out it has a tiny hole in in from a pipette, yeah you're getting doused with "eau de diaper".

OH man that does not sound good However you can't help it and you do clean it off regularly....that's different from people who smell cause they just don't care.

Blas....I have no idea what these smelly balls or whatever for your shoes are?? Haven't heard of those. I wash and lotion up my feet every day so hopefully they don't stink

As for deodorant...I don't think I mentioned this before but if I did sorry...but I'm using a crystal type now, it's hard crystal and it has no smell whatsoever...but it's effective at taking away that bo smell ...you're left with NOTHING. A good alternative for those who are "sensitive" to deodorants and then choose not to use them...this way they don't stink.

I buy the ones from Payless, they are right at the counter where you pay, little balls that cost $4 a pair and you can adjust how much deoderant they exude, but I usually keep it at level 1. They last longer that way. I just pop one in each tennis shoe when I'm not at the gym, and when I am, I put them in my work shoes. Now my shoes don't smell.

You can buy similar ones at other shoe stores. They are just little plastic deoderant balls.

Thursday I had a bath prior to begrudgingly going out*, then as I was working in a giant fridge the Friday, I dressed in thermal underwear and top, jeans and a coat and cycled to work via the opposite direction to drop some stuff off at my unit and pay the bill, decided that it was a tad too warm for the coat, but was in a rush to get back to going to work, got into the changing rooms which normally whiff.

God, once I took my coat off it was as if I had been attacked by a skunk, what was the point of having a bath the night before, sometimes 8am before heading off around 10, if the cycle there is going to make me feel like I swam in a sewer?

I've encountered the bathe in perfume at work, one girl to mask the smell of smoking would douse herself before returning to work, at the time I worked in the old fridge and she passed through it to get to her room and the blast chillers sent a mace atack my way, I had to leave the room gasping as I did.

*So between monday and thursday I well and truely spent fridays drinking money, yet Captain Dickhead still asked if I was going out.

As for deodorant...I don't think I mentioned this before but if I did sorry...but I'm using a crystal type now, it's hard crystal and it has no smell whatsoever...but it's effective at taking away that bo smell ...you're left with NOTHING.

I'll have to look into those (I think I've seen the ones you're talking about); roll-ons seem to make me sweat more for some reason (even the ones that are supposed to inhibit sweating).

One thing to consider is finding an actual deodorant and not one that is also an antiperspirant. I get cysts if I use an antiperspirant, so I have to seek out the last few brands out there that are deodorant only.

I had one of those crystal types for a while, but lost it when I moved a few years back. Which is a shame, 'cause as far as I can tell, that thing will last forever. And it was really effective, too.

Yeah I have a feeling my crystal will last a long long time even though it's fairly small. I bought off a vendor that's usually at this flea market I run and it's in a pretty decorative closing shell thing too...so it looks neat.

Is this what you're talking about? IIRC, I've used it before and it's quite good. You can usually find it in places like Whole Foods, Market of Choice, etc.

I don't know that I had that one, but it was a chunk of mineral salt in a more common applicator like you get with regular solid deodorants.
