    Situation that happened recently in Toronto, with a survey sent out to licensed strippers about how well the "no touching" rule was being enforced. At least one strip club posted a sign in the change room "You will be receiving a questionnaire in the mail from the city of Toronto. Please bring the envelopes with you to work so management can help you fill it out properly". One stripper, after bringing it in, asked her manager if he was going to help her fill it out, and got the answer "No, we fill it out and send it for you". Since many of her co-workers had been fired without cause, she didn't challenge that (hello Right-to-work states and "employment at will"). Roughly 2/3 of the completed surveys received by the city appeared to be in the same handwriting, and they painted a VERY different picture than the others did.     If you immediately called the local authorities, by the time the polls closed your boss would have a (backdated) year-long file of your tardiness, incompetence, and insubordination to back up your termination - since the "request" to bring in your ballot would have been given verbally, it would be a simple case of a disgruntled former employee trying to get the company in trouble (your word against theirs). How many of your (now former) co-workers would be willing to back you up, after seeing what happened to you when you tried to report the incident? Good luck getting a new job - the major employers would have a "dog whistle" code used in reference checks to reveal that you had the gall to want to vote for your OWN choice, and your application would be round-filed.

      Not if you gave every appearance of cooperating while blowing that whistle.

      Plus, a lot of employers keep whistleblowers on the payroll, despite legitimate reasons to dismiss them just to avoid the appearance of impropriety, regardless of truth and reality.
