No, seriously. I want to have a serious discussion about pornography. This seems like the place I could do it.

Now, for those of you who are morally against porn or thinks it's a waste of time, please leave now. This thread is for the discussion of porn by people who enjoy it for whatever reason. I really don't feel like dealing with anyone preaching to me why it is (in their opinion) reprehensible. If you would like to do that, start your own damn thread. Thank you very much.

Now, on to my major point. To wit: When, and more importantly WHY, did anal sex take over the porn business? Seriously. It seems you can't watch a decent porn anymore without some dude jamming it up some chick's pooper. And not everyone (i.e. me) likes watching that particular act.

I know that part of it is that anal sex is taboo and the porn industry is always trying to push the envelope. I also know that a lot of people do enjoy anal sex, both personally and for viewing purposes. I have no issue with that. I would just like to know why I can't seem to get too many decent porns that don't have this facet. Why must it always get to that in the end? (Yes, the pun was fully intentional.)

So, any thoughts on this?

Also, in another vein, who are your favorite performers? Myself, I very much enjoy Gwen Summers' work. I think she is gorgeous and she is certainly very enthusiastic. I also enjoy watching Asia Carrera and Chloe, among others. From a production standpoint, I thnk the Bang Brothers are hilarious. Yes, I DO like humor with my porn, thank you very much.

I've noticed that porn seems to contain A LOT more anal scenes than it used to. Is it because it's getting bigger these days? Probably. I just think it's tough to find some quality regular old porn now.

As for favorite stars, the Bang Brothers are hilarious. Nothing like a lil comedy with your porn. But I do enjoy Heather Brooke's work along with Raven Riley's.

Don't see the point. Now, before you both start screaming "Then why post?", let me explain. I don't see the point of visual porn, cuz I far prefer the written version. Don't know why, but I do. XD I also love slash, as in two guys getting it on, which seems to be very taboo as far as some people are concerned. A lot of women would agree with me, but straight men seem to be all "Oh hell no!". XD

Good erotic fiction is hard to come by; as is good slash. See my badfic thread for details of why the bad sucks. I don't want to read an unrealistic description of sex by someone who's obviously a virgin and/or has done no research at all, however a good, well written sex scene can be very shall we say, arousing. XD

This is not a porn aficionado's forum. This is a forum for debate. Some people here may not like porn, and they have a right to voice that opinion. Thank you very much.

With that said, we can certainly try to focus the debate around the issue of porn content instead of morality. Just be aware that thread drift happens.

But as you alluded to, I would much rather have a debate about content than morality, and DID suggest that if someone wanted to debate morality, they were more than welcome to start such a thread. First off, I am a straight woman, and I do get aroused by softcore porn, but the whole anal thing is such a turn-off. Yes, I'm talking about guy-girl (and sometimes girl-girl) porn. Anal is probably thought of as very taboo; but the nature of porn is taboo in itself IMO. So as long as we use sex to procreate, the porn industry will continue to push the envelope.

There are other things I have problems with. Watching porn is something that is healthy and stimulating, and a good stress reliever. I do have a problem, though, with guys who try to force girls to watch porn with them. Yes, I was with a guy who wanted to put on a porno when we were making out on his couch after our second or third date. I'm not saying couples can't enjoy it together, but when you're just getting to know each other it's a bit weird.

There's also the issue of younger men who have an unrealistic expectation of what real sex is like because they've been so saturated with porn. There was this "True Life" on MTV where this guy literally had NO LIFE because he lived with his Grandma, didn't work, and watched porn all day. I'm sure he knows what he's doing in bed! I also think that maybe some guys can get desensitized to sex and not take it seriously when they get into a relationship. I guess what I'm getting at here is that all kinds of porn are OK. Whatever floats your boat, you know? But don't let it get into the way of a real sex life (which is a MILLION times better when you're with the right person! )

Exactly, Giggle Goose. BT and I had this convo as he was picking out some porn for us to..um...watch? He asked me if I liked it or not. My reply, "Meh...I'd rather just, y'know, do it."

Hey, I'm an actor, I don't observe - I do!!! And honestly, most of the time it just makes me laugh. The 'acting' is awful, the girls tend to have really weird looking fake boobs....and who the hell has time to have designs carved into their pubes? Really? I would like to say that the ridiculous fake boobs, while popular, are not something that I enjoy, generally speaking. As a guy, I prefer women who are both more natural and/or who are petite. If you look up Gwen Summers, you'll get an excellent idea of what I'm saying.

And yes, there is plenty of bad acting. When the badness extends to sex, that is when it is truly awful porn. The better "actresses" in this genre, whatever their theatrical abilities, certainly know how to have sex and enjoy it with enthusiasm and gusto. Enthusiasm is what made Traci Lords such a star--until, of course, her real age was discovered.

As for the designs in pubes....I hate to tell you this, but I have known more than a few women who are neither porn actresses nor strippers that DO do this. Not a majority, certainly, but it is not as uncommon as you may think.

One last thing....while it is rare, I HAVE seen a few porn movies that were well written (for porn) and well acted (for porn) with an actual semblance of a story. Nothing that is Oscar material, certainly. But fun, rather than just several random clips of people boffing away. Some examples: "Chameleons," "The Virgin Whore," "Taboo," "Hot Rackets" (which is fucking HILARIOUS Seventies porn, by the way), "Phoenix Rising," "Jewel Raider" (amusing takeoff on Tomb Raider), "Flashpoint," "One Night in Vegas," "Space Nuts," "Pirates," "The Visitors" (which is almost creepy), and "Camp Cuddly Pines Powertool Massacre" (which is at times hilarious and at times amazingly stimulating--sometimes both).

I prefer written porn to dvds. Trashy romance novels because they come across as so ridicules they become funny or the more graphic scenes in Jean Auels earth childrens series which has some AMAZING erotica in it. I also like sites like literotica.

Out of the porn I watch I prefer the soft core stuff (although when I read I like harder core) simply because in shows like the Red shoe diaries the woman tend to be more pretty and less "slutty" looking. I find espeically in vivid porn that the girls are all the same, size zero with DD implants, extension hair and heavy make up. The guys arn't much better but they do all seem to have the skeesy looking "im a porn star face" and I find in soft core they have guys who look more like the "hottie of the office" guy. most popular porn just becomes so repetative

Interestingly enough when I was 15 I walked into a history class reading a historically set novel (not an erotic book) but I just happened to be on a fairly racy page... the teacher took the book from my hands and I was becuase of course his eyes just about popped out of his head. He shut the book and pretended it never happened.... thank god

If your problem with porn is that it all seems way too fake and crappy acting, just watch some good old amateur porn. It can easily be found for free on the internet and there's no crappy time-wasting plots.

Of course the problem with amateur porn is that 99% of it is not amateurs. There is some actual amateur stuff out there, of course, but a lot of it suffers from amateur cameramen as well.

Now, some of the gonzo stuff is good (even if it is fake--hello, Bang Brothers!), and makes it seem more "real."

Now, you said amateur stuff was good due to lack of plot, but some of us actually LIKE a plot in our porns. (Though I admit a badly written porn movie can make one hate the plot and think, "let's get on to the action!")

Yeah but the problem with most amateur stuff for me is hair... as I have discussed in the pubes thread I have a dislike of body hair (on guys to) and in porn although most girls are at least trimmed, most of the guys have armpit hair (yuck) and bushes that would put zohan to shame.
