Hooters is being sued by National Organization of Women

Don't forget, this is the organization that wants to shut down Playboy because they say it's demeaning to women. Never mind the fact that most of the women who appear in the magazine have more prestigious jobs than the ones in the organization.

HUH? Where did I ever say that I went there because of their uniform? When I went in, they'd sit down next to me, ruffle my hair, state how sexy I am and such. No other restraunt does that.Originally posted by Ladeeda View PostSo you don't go to any restaurant, then? Or to any place with customer service employees, always use self-checkouts, never get coffee at a shop, or anything?
Cause they all have to be nice to everybody, too, whether they want to or not.
Just saying, don't scold Hooters waitresses just because their work uniforms are short and tight.
If I go to a restraunt, just take my order. Do NOT pretend that I'm some major attractive man that you must have. Be yourself and just take my order. Don't be all over me when if you were off the clock, you would pepper spray me.
I don't NEED or WANT any type of false affection, especally if I have to pay you for that and you truely don't give two shits if I live or die.

In the USA, civil suits such as this are entirely for monetary damages, as "equitable justice" is extremely restricted to certain areas of the law. Suing for specific performance is usually only achievable if there is a contract in place on the matter.Originally posted by Rapscallion View PostHmm, sue it to what end? Suing for money? Suing to make them stop serving children?
However, the NOW complaints are NOT what the lawsuits are about. Those complaints are just additional icing on the cake. The cake is simple: It is a class-action lawsuit placed by two formers Hooters girls on non-compliance with CA wage-and-hour laws, seeking compensation thereof.
So really, it's a fairly boring standard lawsuit about wage compensation. *shrugs*

Yeah. That's why I didn't go there before my cousin started, and haven't been there since she left. I don't need or want anyone pretending to like me for a buck. That's degrading to all parties. I'm aware of my want of attention of females, and I'll get the wrong message when they're pretending to be sweet and calling me attractive and hot and cute as long as I'm tipping well. Outside of them working? Complete 180.Originally posted by Ladeeda View PostSorry, dude, but when did this become about you? They are waitresses and are doing their jobs. ALL wait staff have to be friendly, that's the job.
Geez...
That kinda bullshit happens all the time already, I don't need to fucking pay women to do it.
Treat me how you want to treat me, I've been through worst. Just be constent. Don't act sweet to me if you don't like it. It's stupid to do so.
Dealt with enough people that hate me or dislike me. Shouldn't be any different there just because I have money. I'm not going to get you fired for being rude to me, since your being natural. Just do the job of giving me my food/bill/refills, and I'm happy. Don't have to talk to me, but if you must? Don't fucking LIE and hit on me and act like I'm just the hottest thing you've ever seen.

If they were genueally nice? That be different. But they were pretending. THere is a difference in the two, and you can tell by their attitude and antics. They were pretending. Maybe it was for a tip, or it might have been for my cousin. No idea which, but likely money.
So yeah, they're pretending to be nice to someone like me, so they can get a bigger tip. However if they weren't being paid and/or tipped? They wouldn't give me the time of day.
I liked the place only because of my cousin. She's pretty fun to hang out with, and one of the three members of the family that can draw me out of my shell on a regular bases. THe food there sucked, and once she quit for a better job I never went back.
Geez...

Why can't people just leave well enough alone? Seriously, I get sick of listening to stories like this. All it tells me is that people need to get lives of their own so that they can stop trying to tell everyone else what should or should not be.
We have a Hooters here in town, but I've never been to a Hooters anywhere. In fact, it's located just down the road from the store where I work. I'm not all that worried about it to be honest. If I ever decided to visit Hooters, it wouldn't be so I could get my jollies. If I want to get my jollies, I'll go home to my wife.
As for being degrading to women, I'm certain the women who work there made their choices knowing full well what to expect. If they can be happy working there, then so be it. If they are not happy working there, then it's time to find another job. That's all that matters regarding that point.
If parents don't want their daughters wearing bibs which say "Future Hooters Girl," or something similar, it's up to the parents to say no. Likewise, if people don't want their families exposed to that kind of environment, then don't go there. As a parent, I think my wife and I are fully capable of making decisions on behalf of our daughter. If we want or need guidance in making those decisions, we are fully capable of seeking out the necessary resources to help us. In other words, if we don't solicit help, feel free to butt out.
Really, what does the message "Future Hooters Girl," mean, anyway? Like any other message you could be exposed to, it could mean whatever you want it to mean.

Why do they have to pretend? Can't they be nice and actually want to be nice without having to try? Unless it's mad busy, if they are rushing away from people, they just suck. Some days you get friendly waitresses, other days you get ones who don't chat with customers.Originally posted by Plaidman View Postrunning around pretending to be nice to me for a couple of bucks?
Really, the only friends I have who hated it at Hooters was 5 people. They went there once and got crappy service. These are the same friends who think it's degrading, don't keep their opinions to themselves, and treat waitstaff like crap. Oh, and the two guys are flamboyantly gay. Not that being gay has much to do with it, but when you act all disgusted because the women there are flaunting their stuff, don't expect the staff to be super friendly.Last edited by Greenday; 12-22-2010, 11:53 PM.

The t-shirts are low cut and designed to emphasise the breasts. But I agree.Originally posted by guywithashovel View Post
Lastly, I'm a little intrigued by the use of the term "scantily clad." I've never been to Hooter's, but from pictures I've seen, the girls wear the Hooter's T-shirts with shorts. I'm not sure I would consider that "scantily clad," but I guess my understanding of the word isn't everyone's understanding of it. To me, "scantily clad" conjures up images of people wearing only underwear or maybe underwear and a little bit more.
In fact, I do believe that the waitresses are required to sign a waiver before they start working there that they do not believe this job is sexually humiliating or something similar.

I'll have you know I'm quite fond of lower protrutions, so long as they are attached to a human male above the age of consent, AND gay men.Originally posted by Boozy View PostWomen wouldn't go for that. Straight women find many things about men appealing, but their junk tends to fall low on the list.
A bar called "Weeners" would become a gay bar pretty damned fast.
Yes, I know I'm generalizing. But it's a safe generalization.
So that place would work for me. ^^

There's no reason someone could open up a hotdog restaurant that caters to women named Weeners, with a dachshund as the mascot.

This is a point I hadn't considered. Also, having kids and families around would likely have a quelling effect on anyone with decency who might try to touch rather than just look.Originally posted by Plaidman View Postit's in a far safer enviroment then say, a strip joint or something where a girl likely couldn't get a security guard as fast or something. Being a family restraunt has alot more people that aren't creeps the sterotype strip joint have.
