I had a look at the North Face website, and their clothing and boots appear to be of high quality and very practical.

Another reason why I agree to get the boots, even though they were a little more than I wanted my parents to spend. They were half the price of Uggs, though. I can see where Uggs would be comfortable, but in a place with as much sleet, ice, snow, and rain as Kansas gets...just not practical as snow boots. I wanted boots that were comfy, warm, waterproof, with good traction, and that wouldn't be ruined by salty slush.

Especially on a college campus, you can't judge someone's wealth by their clothing. I have a few nice things, and they are almost all gifts, because my family knows I can't afford them. If some snotty undergrad had pulled that with me, there would have been a conversation about the dispersal of student fee money and the fact that there is NO travel fund for graduate students right now.

I see people wearing Uggs in the middle of the summer and honestly, wearing boots like that in ridiculous heat makes me questions a person's sanity.

UGGS have sheepskin linings which, when worn with barefeet, whisk away moisture and regulate body temperature.

I can't wear mine in very hot weather, but I find them extremely comfortable most of the year.

We just joke around and make fun of North Face at school because it just seems like every single female is wearing one. But I honestly don't mind them because their products aren't ridiculous looking. Uggs on the otherhand, all bets are off. I had a look at the North Face website, and their clothing and boots appear to be of high quality and very practical. As far as clothing fads go, this one seems not so bad. It's refreshing when a high price is justified by the quality instead of just the name-brand logo.

I think it well worth the $. I was just out in about 28F with a long sleeve shirt, thin NF hoodie, and the NF Apex shell (thin one). As soon as I was moving for 5 mins, it felt like it was at least 45-50 out, I was actually sweating.

A few weeks ago, some club on campus was trying to raise money for some charity or another. One of the guys asked some girl walking by if she could donate and she responded that she doesn't have money. His response? "You can afford a North Face jacket and Uggs but you can't afford to donate a dollar?" Owned.

I am commonly hit up for money by people who see me with my 400$ and assume I have money if I dress nice or anything like that the truth is I sometimes can afford nice things for myself but rarely.

Know what Greenday? Some of us don't care to donate, and you can't hold that against a person.

I have the money to dress in AE, Hollister, and Buckle clothes, and I'll refuse to someone's face to donate if it's not something I want to donate to.

Besides the fact that not everyone always has cash on them at all times or may be in a hurry, it's not fair to judge like that. Donating is a personal choice, not something that should ever be forced or guilted upon someone, even if they are dressed nicely and look well off.

Okay, I am a brand whore when it comes to North Face....but ya know what? I actually hike in my NF goodies (and I got all of 'em on sale)

They are well made and last forever. My simple shell jacket keeps me really warm when I'm out walking/hiking.

I giggle when I see chicks in NF who are afraid to go outside....but to each their own

Why does every outfit 99.9999% of women wearing these days involve North Face and/or Uggs?

I don't give three damns about the brand, really. I actually went to a discount store first, and didn't see anything I like. These were the only boots I saw that 1) weren't ugly, 2) weren't suede or cloth (they're vinyl or something), and 3) didn't involve visible fur. (They are fuzzy on the inside) And I won't be tucking my pants in the boots unless weather conditions makes it better to do so.

Thought I'd throw this in here. I *hate* to get dressed up. Sorry, but suits and ties aren't for me. Did that crap all through grade school, and can't stand it now. Why is it that "good clothes" are the most uncomfortable things ever?

I do know that one of my co-irkers got pissed at some of us last year. She actually got offended that we didn't get dressed up for the Christmas party. Boss took us out to a nice restaurant up the street from the office. Most of us didn't feel like driving home, and just wore what we had on. Most of us, boss included, showed up in slacks and knit shirts. Needless to say, there was much whining because we were "making her look bad." Yep, this from the person who had a bit too much to drink...and fell off a bar stool
