Hypocrisy isn't even a worry to me. Either you are doing something insanely wrong or you aren't. Being hypocritical about it doesn't really change anything at that point.

Thing is, the hypocrisy allows people to delude themselves into thinking a course of action ISN'T insanely wrong. It has a great effect on the lives of the people whose rights are being debated.

Yes but in 2011 when we look at slavery that happened centuries ago, whether people were trying to trick themselves into thinking it was okay because they weren't really humans or whatever does change that they were treated like slaves.
