He didn't refer to "the police" as pigs. He referred to the police involved in the situation pigs.

Police are like everyone else: some deserve respect, while others, there aren't names bad enough to call them. On a lighter note, if these particular officers were indeed fucking pigs then they can be arrested for that alone: it's illegal in Utah, though surprisingly only a misdemeanor offense

Yes, because the couple in the story really benefited SO MUCH from the police protection that they received after they got the shit beaten out of them and then accused of kidnapping because of their sexual orientation. Just because someone wears a badge, does not automatically make them a good person. The police, and the DA in that story, were fucking pigs.

I have police officers in my family. I think anybody who refers to them as "fucking pigs" no matter what the situation should have to go a month without any police protection and see what they feel like calling the police after that.

Worthless piece of crap called the 5th Amendment? Now I know your slipping off the deep end with your hate. How can you call the amendment that protects against self-incrimination, double-jeopardy and due process a "worthless piece of crap"? It appears that karma is coming back to bite every guilty party involved.
The South Salt Lake Police Department is still two years later being grilled by the media about their handling of the case (fucking pigs , I hope this pressure goes until every last member of the force has ulcers).
The DA that charged Mr. Bell for kidnapping is now on the stand for the case against the attackers.
The city prosecutor is in hot water because he apparently was going to offer the attackers immunity from hate crime laws for testimony in the kidnapping case.
And here's where karma comes in, if I understand the news story that was just on, the judge has decided that the offer was not valid because the kidnapping complaint was a false complaint.
Those fuckers have quite literally provided, by themselves, all the evidence that is needed to convict them, and unlike so many before them, the worthless piece of crap we call the 5th Amendment to the Constitution will NOT protect them.
It warms my heart to see the Ms Lulu Latu on TV crying her eyes out as her homophobic little world crumbles around her, it warms my heart to see a homophobic south salt lake court system knowing that they will actually have to serve justice this time, and knowing that the homophobic south salt lake police department may never regain what little respect they had gives me faith in a deity.
And, I highly doubt that karma is done yet. If anti-immigration laws are passed in Utah, it will be because of racist prejudices on how violent and prone to criminal activity immigrants supposedly are... you just know that if the laws are passed many in the immigrant communities will blame this family for proving the stereotype.
