That was too easy. I think I used that one in replying to a Sheldoners post over at CS a while back.

Ummm, no, not men. That should have been on the next line? I was expressing my frustration with men in general.

I got him noise canceling headphones for his commute.

To Be Honest, after almost 10 years of marriage to Mr. Rum, I wasn't going to waste my time on Valentine's Day this year. He always complains about the holiday and drags his feet about getting me something. He surprised me this year. He bought his Valentine's Day gifts a week before! So I went out and bought something he'd been wanting for a while. MEN!

Heck, I would've wanted to jump your bones if I was that girlfriend.
Yeah she loved it. It kind of set the tone for our whole relationship.

I am the kind of guy that gives smart ass gifts and if I am in a store and I see something I know someone I care about will like or laugh at or whatever I will get it for them.

Heart shaped chocolate box, empty wrappers and a note which reads "I don't love you as much as chocolate."

I don't do V-day, if I was in a relationship, I would be more happy dropping little tokens, be it flowers, chocolates notes or what ever randomly through out the year when the mood struck.
As it is, there is a school of thought (I have no idea how true or not) that if a man gives a woman flowers or chocolates and it is not V-day a birthday or anniversary, then it is an appology.

And regarding the other thread in grabbag, when I was younger, I never saw girlfriends getting their guy's anything, as they got older it might be sexy undies for the night, but just men buying flowers chocolates and cheap jewlery, it was if women had a colletive 2nd birthday.

As far as V-Day goes, it was originally a Saints Day: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Valentines_Day

A lot of the traditional V-Day customs originated from there. IT was deleted in 1969 off of the Saints Calendar, but that's about it.

Ok..I am not big on Valentines because I am one of those who do not think you need a special day for romance...that being said..nothing wrong with doing things on it with those you love. Yes it is a bit too commercial, but there are ways around that..just like for Christmas. Gifts from the heart, not the pocket.

Fiance and I had a heart-shaped pizza from Papa Murphy's, some nice box chocolates*, and watched the last few episodes of Avatar: The Last Airbender.

*Box chocolates were already discounted today.

The only reason I care about Valentine's Day is because tomorrow I can start shopping for discount chocolate.
