I love the entire Saw franchise, and the Grindhouse movies. Although, I can honestly say, I am the only person I know of from around here (as in, where I live) that probably even has seen, let alone owns the two.

Saw was ok as a stand alone movie, as a franchise, no, I'm glad it ended, but the original creators ended it in the third tying up loose ends. but the cash cow needed milking so we had 4 more movies all set around the same time as the 3rd or within days of.
At the time it was the only 18 rated movie in the cinema's for a long time (out side of porno theatres) as most horror diluted themselves to sell to the 15 year old market and most of those were jump scares courtesy of dolby cranked up to 11.
Mind you alot of the 80's 18 movies are nothing special when compared to the 15 movies of now, you get more realistic gore and close ups of the gutting of people, ommited due to technical limitations of the time.

And alot of the banned in the 80's "video nasties" the BBFC allowed them to be released uncut on DVD in the late 90's early 00's and most of them are shite.

Oh god dammit, fuck Homeward Bound. I had buried that completely and totally forgot it existed. Now you've forced me to remember all the torment at the hands of Homeward Bound throughout my school life. That was the farkin' go too book / excuse to watch a movie in class for years. And the movies were all "Disney driving lemmings off a cliff" level as to how they got the animals to act for the camera. >.>

The Saw franchise 1) Too predictable, 2) Boring, 3) way too many of them..take your pick which for every one of them.

I watched the first one 'cause my brother was watching it, and the sheer stupidity of the so-called protagonist irritated the hell out of me. Plus, there was just too much kick-the-dog going on for me to be able to like it.

Anything with a talking animal that isn't old school Disney (Lion King, The Little Mermaid etc.). Air Bud, those stupid chihuahua movies, anything like that.

I'm with you on that one, with a notable exception of Homeward Bound.

The only ones I ever liked were Tarantino's and Rodriguez's Grind House movies.

I love Death Proof. Kurt Russell is a great villain, you don't really mind all that much when the first group dies, and then - Rosario Dawson, Traci Thoms, and Zoe Bell. Aw hell yeah. I think "Moo, muthafucka, mooo!!!!" might be my favorite movie line of all time. Personally, I found Planet Terror to be a bit meh. Mostly Rose McGowan, a classic case of "she's banging the director." However, Machete, based off one of the fake Grindhouse trailers, was excellent.

War of the Worlds was pretty God awful.

Prozac Nation was semi-interesting, yet so fucked up I just had to stop watching. Though I was like 16 or 17 when I watched it so I might have to watch it again. I only picked it because it had a half-naked chick on the cover.

I'm not much keen on remakes, especially the likes of War Of The Worlds and THe Day The Earth Stood Still, but a recent one that annoyed me was Quarantine, which was a remake of the Spanish horror movie Rec.

I thought Rec was much more scary, not just because it needed subtitles, but because it was very creepy scary and boy did I jump when they meants you to jump!
Quarantine i just found to be too much OMGWTF I've got to scream every few seconds & overact the scary bits type of thing.

I think there have only been a couple of movies that have every squicked me out though, The Hills Have Eyes almost did, but the worst one was The Incredible Melting Man .. I just couldn't watch the bits where he started melting.

I actually liked the Village, and really, most things that M. Night was involved in. I also liked Zombie Strippers, but then I'm a fan of a lot of "bad" horror movies. I love the Saw franchise, and Hostel, the gorier the better. If there are Zombies, double bonus!

Worst movies?

Pretty much anything with Steven Segal in it....

I hate stupid comedies, and RomComs, things like Couples Retreat *gag* Unfortunately my boyfriend loves them.

The 2008 version of Day of the Dead, just awful.

I would like to say that I prefer the remake of Dawn of the Dead to the original, I found the original boring, and really, I know the effects weren't as sophisticated as today but the blood could have actually been blood coloured.

I hate anything that has Rob Schneider in it, and anything with Forest Whitaker.

Yeah, don't forget The Blair Witch Project..another 'true' tell (yeah uhhuh). Which I would put on my list of 'terrible movies'.

Not sure how to classify the next but the movies about saving a ski resort or anything revolving around the 'sport'.

Some are so bad I am having a tough time remembering the name. But sometimes horrible can be fun..like most of the godzilla/king kong movies..

Anything with The word Power and Rangers next to each other in any way in any part of the title. What the heck was I thinking? Oh right..pink ranger mixed with being a teenager at the time.

The Hobbit animated..ugh

One of the Hulks (no clue which..the one where his 'father' tries to absorb the hulk from him)

I tried watching a Pee Wee movie..lasted about 10 minutes...

Most game turning into movie movies exception Mortal Kombat (I liked them..sue me) and the original Street Fighter oh and Resident Evil...

hmm I am sure I will think of a TON more..I've probably seen over 100 really bad ones.

The Strangers was terrible. It took a few bits from DECENT horror movies and set them in a wait, wait, wait, wait, JUMP, wait wait wait JUMP storyline.

But then again, so was Haunting In Connecticut and Amityville Horror. Neither of those really scared me that much.

Strangers did, simply because it's a little more realistic. It's not that I don't believe in paranormal stuff or curses and whatnot, it's just that stuff like that is over dramatized in movies, and it's hard to believe. After all, a movie about just a plain old ghost in your old house isn't very interesting.

Now, random people breaking into your house with masks and eventually killing you, that's sadly very realistic, ANYWHERE you may live.
