that also includes 90% of the "vintage" cartoon shorts of the 30s 40s and 50s (not including Disney)

At the gym, Hubs and I like to watch "Fairly Oddparents" and "Spongebob" when we're sweating away on the treadmills. What can I say? The news gets bland (and bland isn't what you want when you want your workout to go by quick), and at that hour everything else is infomercials. (It's a 24-hour gym, and we go at odd morning hours.) That, and it's kind of fun to get the jokes that would totally go over a little kid's head.

The other day, another treadmill runner was watching Looney Tunes, so I know we aren't the only ones!

I regularly enjoy shows, books, movies, etc regardless of the demographic they are aimed for.

For me it's the writing. I was not a stupid kid and I never assumed the kids around me were stupid kids. I understood witty intelligent writing as did many of my peers.

The assumption for many people is that a show aimed at say teens will automatically be dumbed down. With some shows that is the case but it's not limited to teen shows there are adult shows also dumbed down.

Thus I don't watch a show just because it's aimed at my demographic because honestly if it's insulting my intelligence then it doesn't matter what age I am.

But if the writing's good the characters are witty and charming and sound real intelligent, not "Look I can reference some obscure book therefore I must be intelligent but I am really not" intelligent.

Apparently, I'm a simpleton because I enjoy spending my free weekend evenings (save for Saturdays, not a fan of anime) watching Adult Swim. So, I couldn't possibly have the brain capacity to watch a serious show or movie, because I enjoy the toilet humor of Robot Chicken.

I think the hate has less to do with the ponies...
And more to do with the bronies...

Btw; the Halloween episode was fantastic; I love Luna's new design, and her overly loud Canterlot address.

Twilight Sparkle: I think if you just changed your approach a bit, you might be met with a warmer reception.
    Princess Luna: CHANGE OUR APPROACH?
    Twilight Sparkle: Lower the volume.
Princess Luna: Oh. We have been locked away for a thousand years. We are not sure we can.

    Ah. MLP.
Allow me to introduce my alternative fursona:
    http://www.furaffinity.net/view/6294187/

    Icey Ponybane.

Now, before you start, allow me to explain.
When the MLP fad hit FA, we had the die hard ragers on one side, who hated MLP with a passion. On the other, we had the hardcore supporters, who were practically foaming at the mouth.
I am on the middle ground.
    Don't hate, don't like.

So.. I decided to have a little fun. I would become a comically evil pony stabber. I would be mocking the haters by being over-the-top (and basically silly) hater.
And I would draw out the supporters who would cry if you so much as said "I don't like horses".

Lots people have been made fools with their over-zealous hate/support.

I still don't like MLP... but I'm not going to bash them with hate like others are doing.
If you like it... like it. If not... move on.

For those of you wondering why I like the new MLP show, Here's a good reason.

Yes, the most shy of the bunch just caused a dragon to break down and cry.

Heh. I'm totally with you there.

Heck, I think I go on the Soarin' Over California ride at California Adventures so much just 'cause he does the pre-flight video.
