In regards to authentic Asian clothing styles, I've actually found some Chinese tailoring websites which have allowed me to bypass western pseudo-asian stuff entirely. They will custom make cheongsams and other garments in your size, using your measurements. And most of them handle plus sizes really well- I've got a gorgeous black and gold cheongsam which I had custom made for me, I believe it was under $150.

I've also seen similar things for people who want Hanboks made, as well as Indian sari and choli blouses.

A couple of years back, I saw a high school girl that looked like a refugee out of the movie Desperately Seeking Susan. She had some layered gaudy print thing going with purple zebra stripes and some green checked pattern, at least two scarves, giant orange plastic hoop earrings and some other things that I've blocked from my memory.

Oh, its a scrunchie all right...I just meant I opted for the plain, slightly poofy black one, as oppossed to the overly poofy, neon one with hanging....flowers I think it was? Eek.

On a new note...what the hell is with the comeback of Richard Simmons type workout clothing? YUCK!

Some people I see at the gym or running/jogging......especially guys...on what planet did you think it was cool to wear hot pink short workout shorts?

I already brought up the neon colored sneakers before, and I just saw some more guys wearing them today. Lime green sneakers and one guy even had HOT PINK sneakers.

So....at this rate, I'll be seeing guys in parachute pants by summer, since we won't be getting a summer this year anyway.

If guys even start with the backwards hat or crazy designs shaved into their hair again, I may just go on a woodchipping spree.

Oh, they're still alive and well. I have a few I use for costuming purposes because they have matching streamers attached.

Yeah, scrunchies are those god awful poofy bright weird colored accessories (most women wore them on their wrist instead of in their hair anyway) that ever existed from the later 80s to the mid 90s.

If they aren't poofy, they aren't scrunchies. The straight band ones are just ponytail holders.

Scrunchies are rather ugly, had start wearing them again to keep my ponytail up.... But they aren't poofy or neon, or have hanging do-dads... So I think I'm okay.

One trend I do dislike is the "connecticut uniform": a North Face Denali jacket with Uggs....only reason it irks me... I wear NF, but mine are worn hiking! Lol, these gals haven't seen dirt . Still, let em wear what they will.

Can we just forget it now? I'll admit I didn't make my statement as clear as I could have (I'm used to the weather HERE as I've lived here my whole life), and no matter what I try to say to clear up my intent, you guys are just going to pick it apart. I'm not expecting everyone to agree, but I certainly didn't except to be picked on for something so trivial.

Because they're not weather appropriate most of the year here. I've seen girls wearing sandals with their jeans in FEBRUARY. You know, one of the COLDEST months.

If it's not warm enough for a good chunk of people to be comfortable outside in shorts, then it's not warm enough for sandals yet.

I don't really get the sandals in winter thing either, but if you're a naturally warm person and think your feet would be too hot in socks and shoes, then whatev. It isn't something I would do myself. I have enough trouble keeping my feet warm in winter.

And thus far I haven't yet seen anybody in sandals on days where the wind chills are especially bad and the weather forecasters are warning about high risk of frostbite. That would probably be more of a to me.

To be honest, I never got past the look of Coach purses to actually notice how well-made they are. Is that bad of me? If I don't like the look, I'm not going to do much inspecting of how well it's made.

I really really really love Vera Bradley purses. You can wash them in the washing machine and then let them air dry. (I've never tried to put it in the dryer, but I suppose you could). They are awesome and I love this newest color in the line. Unfortunately, because it's a new print, the purses made in that fabric are expensive. The two I have listed on my wish list are $72 and $74 respectfully. Yes, they're way less expensive than Coach and others, but it's still pricey.

I find it funny how we're all talking about fashion statements we don't like, which are mostly simply a matter of opinion and personal preference, and I'm getting picked on for one I don't like not simply because of perference, but because of practicality and weather appropriteness.

Because your reasoning thus far has been, frankly, stupid. Why should I have to dress uncomfortably because *you* would not be comfortable in what I'm wearing?

I'm sorry, it's either STFU or put some damn socks and decent shoes on. The cold DOES bother a majority of people I see wearing flip flops all winter, so my point is still valid.

That's a completely different point then what you were talking about.
