I wear the pull-on elastic waisted jeans because even though I am obese, if I can get the pants over my hips/butt, they're too big in the waist. Weird, but true. And it doesn't change when I'm skinny neither.

That is exactly me too, same height and a UK 20/22 below & 24 top. All my pants/jeans either have elasticated bits in or lots of tucks in the waist!
I have trouble with tops too, those that fit round my boobs are either huge around the neck, or if they are sleeveless, have such large arm holes you can practically see my waist if I raise my arms So, thats more clothes with tucks in.

I'm another that shudders at the thought of skinny jeans & jeggings. I own leggings, but normally either use them as pj bottoms if I go to an overnight house party so I don't have to sleep in jeans or slump about the house in them with a very long top.

One thing I cannot stand though, which seems to be very common in my area... large ladies who wear everything in skin tight stretch fabric. Sorry, but I really don't want to see everything ripple when they move!

Apart from that, I'm pretty much a "if it suits you then go for it" type of person.. who prefers to wear more flattering pants & looser tops than skin tight everything. I don't follow fashion trends either as most styles look naff on me

Oh, & my daughter loves black & hot pink.... and owns items with skulls on. But then again, she doesn't care for fashion, just sticks to what she likes

The cold DOES bother a majority of people I see wearing flip flops all winter, so my point is still valid.

No, it isn't. What you said was:

No mention was made of people complaining while wearing sandals in cold weather. That would have been a valid point, but you made a general statement applicable to everyone. As there are clearly people who aren't bothered by it, the original point is invalid.


As for me, I don't really understand the point of complaining about other people's fashion choices. Do they really affect you that much? By hating on fashion trends, you're essentially saying "This fashion isn't to my taste, and my opinion is the only one that matters, so nobody should be wearing it." That just seems incredibly self-centered to me.

When fashion trends lead to being unable to find clothing you prefer, it sucks but that's life. You suck it up and deal with it. Stores carry what sells. If you're going to complain, complain about the stores or the clothing makers, not the people who wear those fashions you don't happen to like. My wife wears a women's size 12 shoe. Almost no store carries above a size 10. On rare occasions you can find an 11. But on those (seemingly) once-in-a-lifetime occasions that a 12 can be found, they're hideous, large, clunky, and usually not work-appropriate for her. Should she be hating on those that wear a smaller shoe size than her? No, and she doesn't. She sucks it up, shops online, and when she finds a pair that she likes she'll buy several.

I'm a total winter denier.

As far back as a month ago, I was busting out the heels on the weekends and slowly shuffling my way around parking lots. I've also been known to wear shorter sleeved shirts when it's only in the 40s in March or late September.

It's stupid and wreckless, but one gets sick, oh so sick, of boots and closed toed shoes, socks, and giant sweaters and poofy jackets. It's just irritating.

Because they're not weather appropriate most of the year here. I've seen girls wearing sandals with their jeans in FEBRUARY. You know, one of the COLDEST months.

If it's not warm enough for a good chunk of people to be comfortable outside in shorts, then it's not warm enough for sandals yet.

I've noticed that a lot of college students tend to like to prolong summer (or try to) by wearing summer clothes long after the weather has cooled off. When I was in college, I remember seeing a lot of girls wearing flip flops in the winter. One of them was a friend of my sister's who just didn't like to wear shoes. I also noticed some of them wearing shorts and T-shirts into the winter.

Also, some people are just really warm natured. I used to be like that. If it was fifty degrees and sunny, I'd feel perfectly fine outside without a jacket. However, over the past couple of years, I've lost about 30 pounds, and after that, I've noticed that I tend to get cold more easily. I also don't get hot as easily during the summer.

I have a hard time with purses because the popular style are those ugly giant diaper bag Jessica Simpson type purses. Puke. Sorry, I don't pack for an entire week just to leave to go to the store.

Too big, or too small. There is hardly any in between the giant ruffly sparkly overly busy diaper bags and the itty bitty "going out" handbags that can really only hold some cash, an ID, a pack of smokes, a housekey, and a lipstick.

I have a fake Coach bag. It's not that ugly just that it's BUSY, although lots of my coworkers have called it ugly. No uglier than your fake leather that you deny is fake shit-brown purse that looks like every other fake leather that you deny is fake shit-brown purse that every other 45 year old woman has.

Uhg I hate those purses (the ugly shit-brown fake leather old lady purses), heck my mom will be 60 this year and she hates those purses too! Personally, I'm willing to spend a little more (when I have the money) for a decent looking bag that's of good quality, my mother in law on the other hand, the high end of her budget for purses is $10, then she wonders why she's had to duct tape the one she carries now to keep it from falling apart. That and she likes those old lady purses.

The bag I have now was a gift from my mom this past Christmas, I believe it's Hush Puppies, it is fake leather, but Ive never said it was anything else (it is rather realistic though, it feels quite a bit like real leather, but it's waterproof which is nice), it took me forever to find a bag that was just plain black without it looking like an old lady bag, or being too small. I guess my mom knows my taste better than I thought!

I agree, Boozy. I'm not a fan of those bags either in most cases.

There's one fake LV bag I did have my eye on (it was hot pink), but it was nearly $300. For a fake. Eeeee, nah.

And 9 times out of 10, you get what you pay for. I bought a cheap wallet (well, a girly type wallet) from Charlotte Russe and the zipper didn't work after the first or second week I had it. It doesn't zip at all. Now, their clothes usually stand up pretty well, but their accessories are total junk.

Talking about fugly designer purses, there is a Coach outlet store at the mall I live near.....However, they are ugly & I don't understand why anyone would like them.

I'm not a fan of some of their styles, but the reason that people like them is because they're so well-made. The leather is soft and supple and the stitching will damned near last forever. The linings don't wear out easily either.

I don't buy bags for the logo, I buy them for the quality. I don't like the Louis Vuitton bags because you can't find one without that horrible print.

I don't have a problem with designer bags for the most part, with the exception of the ones covered in logos, like the Louis Vuitton bags (Though, I do like This style, but that's purely because takashi murakami had a part in the designing of them, and I like his work, I doubt I'd ever carry one though)

-Polka dots: Aside from the fact it looks too minnie mouse, it otherwise feels babyish or old-lady depending on the polka dot. In addition, one of the designs for our work shirts is polka dot and makes my boobs look huge!

I love polka dots, I think they give a retro look to shirts and dresses. I don't think I look like mini mouse or a child or an old lady when I wear something with polka dots on it, it all depends on the cut and fit of the clothing (especially for the old lady part of it)

FTR, I wear the US plus-size of 3X otherwise known as a 22/24. So you can get the picture. I'm also 5' 3" and short waisted.

I tend to be in this weird mid-zone. I'm at the upper end of regular fashion and the lower end of plus size fashion in the 15/16 range. Both sides tend to underproduce at the edge of their ranges - which makes sense, but leaves women my size screwed.

By the way, speaking of manufacturers not making clothes for everybody, what's with alot of juniors sizing stopping at 13? I wear a size 15, not a size 16. The only difference between the two is fit, and I'm a junior shaped woman, not misses shaped. >_<

If I were heavier or shorter, I'd have an easier time of it, but I'm just over 5'8" and have been the same size for the last decade plus.

You're not complaining about people wearing sandals in winter. You're complaining about people wearing sandals when it's too cold for them and then bitching about being too cold.

It's completely irrelevant that it's inappropriate for anyone else, but it's inappropriate for them, and that makes them idiots who need to put some damned shoes on.

And, honestly, most of the complaints about the other stuff (skinnies, primarily) are about people who can't figure out that getting the right size clothing is more flattering. But, as with all fashion crazes, producers spend too much time on what are really niche fashions to the detriment of those of us who can't pull off said niche fashions. And those of us who witness those who can't still trying against all sanity and reason.

Uggs and jegging are still fugly, though. Hell, so are a large percentage of designer purses.
