I'm on the neighbour's side. Regardless of whether this lady's husband is looking at you, I think she is pointing out that your behaviour is inappropriate. If she did have children and they were the problem, rather than the husband, would you continue this way?
Let's say you didn't have a balcony, would you go outside onto the street to judge the weather? I don't have a balcony, and even if I did I would go outside in my underwear (and certainly not less). Besides, if I did do this and I found out that another woman's husband was looking at me, I would cover up instantly. Not to appease the wife, to stop the husband creepily watching me! You didn't know the husband was watching you until his wife told you. You may be proud of your body, and that's a good and rare thing to see these days, but do you really want someone secretly watching you, however brief your balcony romps may be?

Some time last year I was in the kitchen making a brew just gazing around idly when the guy in the room downstairs from me was about to leave the bathroom that backs onto the kitchen, the door was wide open so I didnt think anyone was in there at the time, but he was and he was stark bleeping naked with only a coffee cup to hide behind, he spluttered out something and shut the door and waited till I left before walking naked back to his room.
It turned out he had left the door unlocked a few times earlier and other people had walked in on him. He just didn'e seem to grasp that other people lived in the house and 2 of them were women, lord knows what the people next door could see from their kitchen.

Nah. She'd likely try to get the people reporting it arrested for peeping.
That or being too fat.

Panda if the cops were called because of you being indecent on your balcony what would you say to them? Or would you just give them a show?
Hopefully they'll let you at least get a t-shirt on before they arrest you for indecent exposure.

I have a feeling that someone wanted the attention...and is now upset that she got it. Sorry folks, but if someone chooses to sunbathe (or just be outside) in the nude in the 'burbs (or even in town), ignores that some people will have a problem with it, yet does it anyway...then they have no right to bitch and moan when people complain or the cops get called.Originally posted by muses_nightmare View PostI think you're a bit full of yourself here, even if it is about her husband, if you're in plain view she has every right to be upset. Not to mention if people have a serious problem with it you could be looking at indecent exposure. (depending on the laws where you live.) Like other posters have said, maybe people are grossed out by your body and don't want to see it like that.

Red, as much as I agree with you that Americans are overly prudish when it comes to the human body, that is a topic for a different thread.
The main point of this thread is about a complain between neighbors. Your neighbors think it is inappropriate to go outside without being covered, you think that you must know the weather before choosing clothes.
May I make the suggestion that it would go a long way in smoothing relationships to do something as simple as wrap in a towel or a light cotton robe (both of which take seconds to put on and will have minimal impact on your ability to sense how the weather is outside).
Also, may I point out, as Blas said, weather changes frequently enough that if you truly want to be prepared you need to check a weather report... they are not 100% accurate, but it is a hell of a lot more accurate than just a quick check on your balcony.

If I got my jollies from prancing around naked in front of middle aged men then I would do that, but I don't. I'm doing something for my self without caring about what he is doing. Next I suppose you're going to accuse me of getting my jollies from grilling in front of middle aged men since I grill on my balcony sometimes and he probably sees me doing that as well.
A very very fat person should have the decency regarding their condition to cover up but if they were out for a few seconds to check the weather I would just not look at them.I'm so hoping that a very very fat person will start doing the same thing you are where you can see them. That way you can start a new thread and carry your hypocrisy even further.
Having an acceptable view on nudity and body image means I have low standards? I guess I should put on my jibab and only go out after dark so nobody sees me. People get way to hung up on nudity in America. Even in somebody put a picture on the internet it wouldn't hurt me in any way. Also don't you realize that someone could take your picture and post it all over the internet? Or are your standards so low that you just don't care?
If they don't want to see it then they shouldn't even look. That isn't even the issue. The issue is this lady is insecure about her husband and thinks I should change my behavior to accomadate her.I think you're a bit full of yourself here, even if it is about her husband, if you're in plain view she has every right to be upset. Plus, it's flawed logic.
Weather can change. This week, it's been 70 degrees at 7 am when I leave work, but already into the 80s by 9 am. The other day in the afternoon, it began storming and raining, and into the night. But other times this summer, it's been freezing in the morning, but beyond uncomfortable humid by afternoon, some days it seems the same all day long. Some days it's hot and rainy all day up until later evening.
Morning weather doesn't determine the entire day.

I'm wondering why you get your jollies prancing around naked in front of married, middle-aged men. Obviously, there's some thrill behind, otherwise why would you do it?

The way I see it the lady isn't upset about the nudity but that her husband is looking at me. As if he shouldn't ever look at somebody else just because he is naked. She should be confronting him about it not me if it bothers her so much.

Who says you're not gross? Gross means different things to different people. You think fat people are gross. I think folks who run around barely clothed in public are gross. You may be on your property, but you're in public once you step outside your doors. I will say I didn't really have a problem with your op until you mentioned that you told them you didn't care when you were told it bothered people.

Guess what. Not all /fat/ people are considered gross that need to cover themselves.
Not all /skinny/ people are considered so hot they MUST show off their skin. People find even minor nudity gross, even if the persons only defects are their personality.

I'm gonna side with the neighbors on this one too. Unless you're in an area where nudity is accepted, such as a nudist resort, nude beach, or clothes-optional Pagan gathering, then you should cover up when in public view. For better or worse, nudity is a charged issue in this culture, even a potential legal problem depending on how visible you are, and where.
If you need to step outside to check the weather, than why not wear a light robe? I don't mean some terrycloth monstrosity- even a light cotton would work. Light enough so you can get a sense of what the temperature is like, but enough coverage to keep you "decent", as it were.
And I'm sorry to have to say this, but I'm gonna have to also side with the posters who are calling hypocrisy. You have said that fat people disgust you, and you hate to have to look at them, and they should cover up so as not to offend the eye. And then you confess to being outside, in view of the neighbors in either underwear, topless, or a birthday suit, and not giving a damn what others think, or that they may be offended.
Why should other people be held to one standard, and you to a different one?
